Wanted to ask for you guys' opinion.
It seems the general "men's style consensus" out there does advise that a pair of suedes has a place in a decent shoe collection.
As I am still starting out, am wondering what is your opinion for which style would be best to have in suedes.
I am aware bro alvin has a brown carmina suede oxford
What do you guys think

My personal choice would be a derby. Basis that suede shoes are inherently less formal to begin, so i'll go with derby which will be more comfortable for my wide feet. At my work place at least, suede shoes could make an apperance on dress down fri at best.

U contradict leh, u say any edetal 40/41 but u also say no loafers (notwithstanding it's a 38 in size)

Anyway am a 43 else may let go oxfords

my bad. no loafers, and other sizes other than size 40, 41.

To all of you guys with Ed et al's shoes from various collection, years: How do you think the shoes hold up? My dark brown pair of monks seem to hold up pretty well after a year.

I'm pretty confident im a 8.5 on loake capital , definitely 8.5 on Hiro
I took 9 on the simpson last and 8.5 on the rain last
Discussed this with bro alvin, who also has a rain last
But oh well, when buying online we never know right. its always a leap of faith

Simpson is a little tricky. Someone people fit TTS, some size down for lasts like Inca and Rain instead of sizing up for Simpson. Given that you bought monk straps I would've advised you to stick with 8.5. Rain is a much better fit for me overall than Hiro and I can comfortably go half a size down for it.

You can never go wrong with a suede oxford. Get this :

Yes since they are mostly worn as slip-ons; monks usually fit looser than lace-ups(of the same last). You can adjust the buckles though, so getting the size wrong isn't as unforgiving as it is with loafers. Loafers and slippers fit the "loosest" among shoes, I usually find that sizing down by half for loafers still produces heel slip.

The single straps are a good idea man; not as overplayed and common as double monks, and IMO a much more clean and elegant look on calf leather. I prefer double monks to be in suede.

And yeah, the deer bone. Had a very interesting conversation with a friend when he asked me what I was doing and I told him that I was "boning my shoes".

the deer bone is rubbed in a circular fashion like how you would polish with a cloth, only that u use a deer bone instead

hi all, need simple advice, my dilemma goes like this, my 8 size clark shoe finally broke down, so decided to hunt for new shoe and have came to target 2 shoes from rockport.

so my questions are, are wingtip shoe still in fashion now? and also the shoe that i prefer between the 2 shoes actually didnt have my size, only has size 8 available, and for rockport size 8 fit me well with zero finger gap at the back unless i push my foot in wearing a thick sock. However size 8.5 feel comfy enough with one finger gap at the back.

i asked the pinoy sale, he told me that size 8 looks tight, but assured me the leather will expand, so should i get size 8, or just get the wingtip design of size 8.5

Not an easy choice i think.
First of all, i think wingtips are and will probably always be considered a pretty classic style. Not too casual, and definitely very versatile. Especially if in a medium / darker shade of brown.
With regards to the fit question. I think one fingerspace is really pretty loose.
If i were you, if i were not in a rush, i would wait till i find the wingtip that i really like PLUS in the correct size. Since we are talking about a pair of shoes that you could potentially be wearing in a multitude of situations
