Anyway just thought I would share. I might not be the best deal out there but I think its pretty reasonable, notwithstanding cheaper online sources.
Q menswear sells double barrel cedar shoe trees at $29.

Notice that for most shoes that are being featured in this thread, they in most cases come in leather soles. Hence do you all usually bring it to the cobbler to put in a layer of rubber over the leather sole so that it is less slippery in the day to day walking?

I use to do that for my work shoes which are relatively inexpensive. However, have recently bought a dress shoe from Herrings and am thinking of doing the same but at the same time worried that it may spoil the shoe. Hence just to check what is the usual practice among most seniors here.

Its preference.. both of their advantages and disadvantages.
Some say leather soles allows the shoes to breath better. But they are hazardous to walk in on wet marble floor whereas rubber gives more grip.

Longterm wise, its easier and cheaper to replace the rubber than having to re-sole the leather.

510 pages so no time to read. Bata is ok but again depends on which model. Some are as cheap as $30 while others can exceed $100. Quality is ok but doesn't last long especially cheaper model. Hence the name Buy And Throw Away.

If on super tight budget, go emart and use credits to buy no 3 shoes. Sounds stupid but I know people who do that. Its FREE anyway.

No matter how good quality the shoe and how well you take care of it, there will still be wear and tear. Worse if you work long hours. All the moisture from sweat inside the shoes.

Rather than spend a lot of money on 1 or 2 pairs of shoes, I rather buy cheaper shoes and then get 3 to 4 pairs. This is so you can rotate the shoes. Not only does it spread out the wear and tear but each shoe has enough time to air and dry (the insides of the shoe I mean).

you can bring it to the cobbler to apply a Topy or Vibram sole, probably cost you $30+ to do so. I would prefer having some grip walking on smooth surfaces and the affordability of resoling rubber soles instead of leather, so I added a Topy

Bro I think your choice is not an easy one ... we do need a bit more information though
1) What setting do you aim to use the shoe for? Office setting ? Formal setting? Something fun?
2) What shoes do you already have?
3) When do you need the shoes by?

Few things first
These 2 shoes are suitable for rather informal settings, esp the first pair. The lighter the shade of brown, in general, the less formal it is.
The 2nd pair is an MTO, it might not be a choice if not fully funded so it might not materialise, and if you are in a rush, it wont work since the earliest you can expect delivery is Dec 2014
For wet weather shoes, these are both good since they both have rubber soles and both are made in grained leather
In terms of versatility in different settings, I would pick the second pair, given its the darker shade of brown, and the fact that they are wingtips, so they go pretty well with almost anything except in a formal setting.

Would go with the Dark Brown wingtip, perfect for both dressy and casual.

Really appreciate the enlightenment.

I am planning to get a pair to add to my daily rotation.
My work requires me to present myself in business attire but not to extend that my shoes must in black to match the formality.

Right now, i own a pair of wingtip in burgundy and i have no qualms in getting another wingtip, so long the color is different from my existing.

I am in no hurry to get one but would be glad if the waiting time can be shorter.
From the feedback given by the brothers here, seems like the one in darker shade is more popular.
If were to go for the dark brown wingtip, i think theres no read need to seek another belt as i already own one with the same color.
