Really appreciate the enlightenment.

I am planning to get a pair to add to my daily rotation.
My work requires me to present myself in business attire but not to extend that my shoes must in black to match the formality.

Right now, i own a pair of wingtip in burgundy and i have no qualms in getting another wingtip, so long the color is different from my existing.

I am in no hurry to get one but would be glad if the waiting time can be shorter.
From the feedback given by the brothers here, seems like the one in darker shade is more popular.
If were to go for the dark brown wingtip, i think theres no read need to seek another belt as i already own one with the same color.

Based on what you say i think the obvious choice apart for the waiting time will be the wingtips.
More versatile, more dressy, and more "exclusive" since its an MTO (if this rocks your boat).
Unfortunately, the waiting time for Meermin is always as such. In fact, I have a feeling that even if the MTO goes through, December 2014 is an optimistic time frame. You'll prob wait longer, much longer

Seems like price for the Berwicks dropped. This is their premium grade with the JR sole. Knock yourself out. I can't do a review on the size till I receive my pair so whoever's adventurous enough to try, you'll be rewarded if it fits.

I think if u are really particular to keep a unique shade then should use neutral or just reno to maintain the leather.

Not that creme or wax will change the colour. But if u fancy a mirror shine, cannot avoid wax. I personally find its ok to use colour wax/creme, colour wont change drastically n u can always give a good clean to strip off the colour.

While I agree with you in using neutral creme to maintain a particular shade, do take note that creme polishes do affect (to a certain extent) the color of the leather. This is more evident on semi-finished leather/crust leather that alot of makers are using today (EG/SL/SC/GG/ etc). This is exactly the reason why many of them will advise to only use wax polishes on the shoes.

My suggestion for crust leather shoes, minimal periodic application of colored creme to nourish and refresh the color, and wax polishes for the gloss.

On finished leather, the changes are less evident though excessive application will alter it for sure.

I find both are ok. Horse hair bristles are indeed softer n therefore 'hurt' your leather less, if a dead cow's skin has feelings.

Horsehair bristles are primarily used for dusting, as opposed to boar's, which are much stiffer and shorter, and are exceptional at spreading your cream/wax nicely across the upper.

Likewise, the literature I gathered from the internet seems to suggest that the renovateur is a pretty good calf leather conditioner for regular use (couple of times a month or so), even if you use no other shoe care product. I used it sparingly on my wife's old hand bag and I thought it worked pretty well too in cleaning the leather and giving it some suppleness.

Mason's comments (bearing in mind that he is a shoe care professional) has gotten me abit apprehensive now. Anyone like to chime in a 2nd opinion?

Use it sparingly and you will be fine. The beef with Renovateur is I see some gentlemen slapping Renovateur on their brand new shoes (that is a straight no), and I have absolutely no idea who came up with this regime.

The true beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Vocalou calf is a well known tannery and sl's design is evergreen classic. (I think llyr's from there too, but not sure about the leather grade though) Drop by the store and see whether it speaks to you. Do check out other upcoming shoe brands like Vass (18oct), Carminas(Kbks), george cleverly and even ed et Al's MTO options since you are already keen to shell out that amount for the pair of shoes. Anyone purchased the alfred sargent moore or owned one recently? Wondered how was it will be like after many wears. Like the creases. Thinking of getting a pair on black..

Cemented is the usual glued construction
Blake is the one where u can see stitching on the sole
Goodyear is the one where the stitching is visible on the edges of the shoe

Vass should be a finer pair of shoes given they are handmade, imho. Have experience with neither though.

Take the Vass v-cap. Have a pair of vass vs a pair of AS Ramsay. The vass is way more comfortable and looks pretty sleek.

I only have experience with Vass F and U lasts, and not AS.

The last really makes a difference in comfort level. I dunno which last you are talking about for the Vass V-cap, but I strongly advise against U last if one is looking for comfort. Personally, I don't feel that Vass is any sleeker than AS.

Haha what I actually meant to say was that the pair of vass looked pretty sleek vis-a-vis the AS. Anw I only have the pair in U last. Maybe I should try the K last so the breaking-in period isnt so long.

I think I'll be going for the old English II in F last and dark cognac.
Looking at the lasts yesterday. I find the appearance of the F acceptably sleek as well.
Plus they didn't have U last in my size to try
Will definitely get the AS Moore in cherry as well. Bloody nice looking shoes

Good choices. For shoe trees, my advice is to go for the larger size if your shoes are in between sizes. Oh Vass does an awesome rubber add-on sole too.
