Allen Edmonds

Dear all,

Amazon duplicated my order and I now have shoes trees from Allen Edmonds (5) and Woodlore(4) to let go. Both are in size S. If anyone is keen, please text me at 97681981. I'm letting them go at cost price. What you see on the amazon page. For the size guide, you can check amazon. Thanks.

Too bad not medium, otherwise I would have taken 1 pair.

You bought it at the sale price or normal price for the AE?

Any one knows which is better, the original shoe wax polsih from Herrings or get a tin of Saphir Polish?

Doesn't really matter. Just remember to condition your shoes before polishing.

Some ppl cant stand chemical smell. I find beeswax based polish easier to work with.

Doesn't seem to really shine the shoes though. Was wondering if it was the wax problem or my technique problem.

Berwick has arrived. Might have to use an actual camera for the pics as my crappy phone just suffers from the purple tint. The 180 last from Berwick is meant to be the slimmest of their last but they're actually quite bearable for my toes. Due to the padded insole, it's quite tight at the section between the top of the tongue and the vamp but I guess the footbed should start to sink in a little after they're fully worn-in.

As compared to my Barker in a G fit, the Berwick is probably true to size which is contrary to what Mr. Shoesnob reviewed that it fit larger. I might just be more used to a more roomy fit but the Berwick should become one of my favourite pairs over time. I won't compare the soles as I've never owned a pair of shoes with Dainite soles.

For a pair of shoes at 60 pounds, I must say it's a no-brainer buy. With that said, for those who're keen on purchasing the Berwicks but unsure of the size, I wouldn't mind volunteering my pair.

Just an update for those whom attended the previous Vass meet-up last week. Yesterday we had a casual get-together at the Martina Bar at Mezza 9. It was nice to meet up with the others like Alvin Quah, Louise. We now have a permanent Vass representative in Singapore and it's great!

Hi, are you referring to the 1707 Premium Grade or the 1707 Goodyear Welted? What I understand is, The Premium Grade range has whole cut models, cut from a single piece of leather, carefully chosen from the best part of the animal (the backbone).

The website doesn't provides any details of the shoe but if you compare the pictures on Debenhams with Berwick official website, the model on sale at 75 pounds is indeed the 1707 premium grade model. Ultimately it's caveat emptor. One will be rewarded with a bit of research and risk taking.

I see, that's a good pair of shoes at a discounted sale price! I remembered, Justin (from Shoe Snob) reviewed Berwick shoes positively. Anyway what size are you wearing? I am interested in purchasing a few pairs and I thought it will be wise to try physically rather than just pull the trigger purchasing online. I am wearing Edetal(MTO) size 39 with EE width, size 39.5 for Vass F last. Care to assist? Hehe. :s13:

I'm a UK 9. Yes, Shoesnob reviewed the shoe and it was generally positive. The usual price is 150 quid so 50% off such shoes probably don't come easily. I don't have any Vass or Ed shoes. The last is not overly slim at the toebox area so it feels like a true to size last. A size 39.5 is about a UK 7? A pair is available in UK 7 so if you're feeling adventurous, why not? Or you can wait for me to take some pics of my shoes but note that mines only the Goodyear Welted range so there's bound to be some differences.

I have minimal experience with UK shoes so I am unsure about my sizing. I wouldn't want to use the 'standard' shoe conversion chart as every manufacturer uses different lasts, the differences insteps, blucher vs oxford vs loafer. I guess vaguely that I fit either UK size 6 or 6.5(if I am to use the international conversion chart). Hey, it will be very much appreciative to post some pics! I will rather wait than pull the trigger. Thanks! Anyway, when does the sale ends for Berwick? :D
