Working Shoe for Young Exec

It is for working purpose , want to have some nice mixed of leather color, I tried the Maganini (spainsh made) , but does not fit me well. Something of nice design but not too flashy. It is for office wear.

Cedar wood due to it’s affordability however there are minimal differences as compared to beech wood(the former having a much stronger scent). If due to self-indulgence, I would not hesitate to acquire obeche or hornbeam wood shoe trees. From what I gathered, generally, G.J. Cleverley and John Lobb use obeche for their lasted shoe trees, while Corthay uses hornbeam wood. Carreducker uses tulip wood for their bespoke shoe trees; which is both light and beautiful.

While some talk of shoe trees absorbing moisture, I believe the main point of trees is to fill the shoe so that as it slowly dries, it keeps the size of the last. That is why having lasted or bespoke shoe trees is crucial for quality shoes. All in all, personally for me, it really doesn't matter what type/species of wood a shoe tree is made from but however, the proper fit is far more essential.

Does that mean that generic size shoe trees not meant for specific lasts will 'spoil' the shoes?

I will not divulge that generic shoe-sized trees will ruin the shoes' lasts, but the main purpose of shoe trees is to retain the shape of your shoes. However, if the shoe trees do not fit the shoes, how then will one expect the shoe trees to perform it's basic function(i.e. to keep the size of the last)? Thus, creasings MAY inevitably appear in the long run.

Personally, I do not always purchase bespoke shoes/trees but even so, I try my utmost effort to correlate both the size/lasts of the shoes & generic trees. Having said that, owning a pair of shoes with trees(even generic ones) is definitely wiser than a pair without one.

I had the same question and actually asked the seller. Apparently it's a private MTO with a maker that supplies other luxury brands so there's no branding. Well I guess for that price if the quality checks out, even without a brand, it would be a steal.

How about another pair of tailor made DW?

I somehow not very satify with my first DW. It is too tight fit that sometime I find uncomfortable to wear as compare to other off the shelf shoes.

I will rather buy ready made shoes, what you see what you wear is what you get is safer.

had some unpleasant experience with Diamond Walker shoes, so a bit skpetical for another MTO, rather buy ready made shoes, what u see is what u get safer.

I symphatise with your DW experience but that unfortunate experience should not hinder you to explore other various MTO that are worth traversing into. May that experience be a learning point instead of an abandonment in search for quality, comfort & fitting shoes.

For Ed Et Al's MTO, during the appointment session, you will be fitted with an actual pair of lasts(shoes) before even selecting your preferences and committing your deal. There are 2 width sizes namely, 'E' or 'EE'. The latter being the more generous.

Hi, I'm young lady exex and I have been wearing rockports. They hv shoes for both men and women. The shoe sizes are big too for ppl like me. Most impt impt very durable, easy to break in and comfortable. There's is adriprene tech in the shoe sole.

IMO I think "without a doubt" is too strong a term. I've had MTOs from Ed that were better and more bang for buck than my Carminas.

No experience with Forest, but Rain feels snug for me. I am more used to Herring size (which is usually on nice rounded lasts).

IMO I think "without a doubt" is too strong a term. I've had MTOs from Ed that were better and more bang for buck than my Carminas.

I would say my Carmina is of better leather quality and finishing than my RTW Ed's. Ed's leather is not as nice, and the last somehow do not fit me nicely. But my Ed's shoe developed some patina so it gets it fair share of wear.

Anyway Carmina and Ed are at different price points.
