I would say my Carmina is of better leather quality and finishing than my RTW Ed's. Ed's leather is not as nice, and the last somehow do not fit me nicely. But my Ed's shoe developed some patina so it gets it fair share of wear.

Anyway Carmina and Ed are at different price points.

At current price point i wont use the word ''nice" to describe edetal rtw leather quality

IMO I think "without a doubt" is too strong a term. I've had MTOs from Ed that were better and more bang for buck than my Carminas.

In my second point, what I was referring to were Ed Et Al's RTW shoes, not MTO. Let me reiterate. Carmina's RTW shoes' quality and QC are more desirable & eminent as compared to Ed Et Al's RTW shoe range without a doubt, despite the latter's surge in collection set.

On another hand, Ed Et Al's MTO is better than their own(Ed Et Al) RTW range as you get to choose your specifications, state your preferences and MAYBE those are constructed in-house locally. Thus, having a much better QC. I was informed that Ed himself does the patina on the MTO shoes. Nice flalr, I would say.

anyone of you guys have issues with uneven wear on the soles of your shoes?

i am an under pronator and my footwear (working shoes, sports shoes, slippers alike) all tend to wear out much faster on the outside of the heels and the front. this leads to a fairly steep gradient forming on the soles of the shoes quite quickly. this is not uncomfortable for me, but the result is that my shoes wear out very quickly (around 6-9 months). The parts on the outside with higher wear is worn down to the interior, where my foot (or sock, rather) might become exposed to the floor, and the inner parts have very little wear.

i know the reason for this, and sadly i dont think i can do anything to address the root cause of it. however, i was wondering if any other ppl who experience issues like this have any tricks?

You CAN actually impede the deterioration progress by applying topy or vibram soles. Do you rotate your shoes after each wear and insert trees to maintain the size of the shoes' last? On the same note, this may sound queer but more often than not, the way we walk also affects the longevity of our footwear.

It's not queer at all. It is precisely the way we walk that determines the contact pattern between our shoes and the ground, which in turn is the main cause of wear on shoe soles.

That is why running shoes designed for under/over pronators may have different sole patterns to account for the different wear patterns.

Our dress shoes' soles are as durable as the fastest wearing portion before we need a re-sole/'re-topy'.

Edetal's line that comes with the more expensive leather is pretty good. Value for money.

I'm thinking of going bespoke with him now.

Alden Color 8 Shell Cordovan Long Wings

4 year old shoe.

Very Comfortable, but looks bigger due to the double sole.

There's a Carmina Appreciation Singapore facebook group. 90 members. I'm not one of them.
