hi all, i noticed faint cracks on my patent leather heels which are a neon colour. does anyone know if mink oil can be used on coloured patent leather as i read that it darkens colours? if not, are there any alternatives? (i usually use dicon leather care cream Jaspé & Co . Pte Ltd : Dicon® Professional Leather Cleaner & Conditioner (110g) - Leather Care Range, would that be good enough?)

How to Clean Patent-Leather Shoes -- Heloise Hints - Good Housekeeping

I may be wrong but patent leather shouldn't be cared for in the same way as leather shoes. If there are cracks it means the lacquer has cracked.

Perhaps consider buying non-patent leather shoes as a replacement and working up to a mirror shine instead?

Nice shine and burnishing at the toe cap. Did u do the burnishing effect yourself or it came along with the shoes?

I see the unmistakable edetal creases (aplenty).

Ed's leathers are mediocre for the price point. I find Herring to be better at that price.

Burnishing came with it. I normally don't try to create mirror shine but tried on this shoe to see the effect.

I've read both articles before, but they're both advertorials and I remain, at the very least, mildly sceptical of the advice they offer.

Advertorials or not, the shoe care tips and guidances offered via the sites are practical and handy, especially for those starting out. Although some sites may indicate soliciting of their goods, nonetheless, the general knowledge are beneficial. I personally find exploring various sites interesting as each offers a unique perspective, way to care & polish one's shoes. Getting the "best of both worlds", indeed.

I agree, but such advertorials make it extremely confusing for people like me who are clueless as well. There are so many different names for so many different products!

I think best advice I've gotten so far is still from this forum :D

I wouldn't call Justin's post an advertorial. He started his blog purely as a shoe/shoe care enthusiast and readers were clamouring for his shoe shine method. Sure, there's a little bit of self-promotion there but I wouldn't go as far as calling his post an advertorial.

Also, I've said it once and I'll say it again. Saphir isn't some kind of mythical combination of elf **** and unicorn tears. If you can't achieve a mirror shine with kiwi, don't bother changing polish.

EDIT: Not directed towards anyone.

Not yet reach the level of shine that I wanted, but I think it is good for now, at least until my exam finishes :s13:

Decided to share this at the suggestion of a friend, who shares the same passion in shoes, and perhaps women.
All the following is meant to be in jest and good fun. Nothing personal, just a whimsical read to pass some time. Also not to offend anyone who may own a certain brand of shoes. This is just a personal opinion.

Since I started getting into shoes, I've found certain parallels between shoes and women.

Meermins, and the like, represent your first girlfriend. Something new and interesting at first. A good introduction to what it's like being with girls. After some time, you suddenly realise her many flaws. You grow tired of her when you realise there's so much better out there, and also when you realise almost everyone else has had a piece of her.

Carmina / Crocketts / Vass represents the next level of commitment. The wife material woman. You will want to settle down with her. She is beautiful but not absolutely stunning. You accept her small imperfections because you know a long, lasting and meaningful relationship is possible. You love and cherish her and do not tire easily of repeated sex with the same woman; this woman.

EG / Gaziano and the like represent the only occasionally attainable. The uber expensive hooker. The once in a lifetime drop dead gorgeous fling that happens so rarely. Or that woman who is so rare that she is almost non - existent in certain dimensions. Perfect in every way, absolute head turner, sexy as hell, curves in all the right places, intelligent, great in bed, and even possibly good with your mum. There is only one catch, you most likely cannot afford her, she is too expensive a hobby to maintain.

Speaking of which, my friend did also remind me. Should you spend too much money on expensive hookers, you must sometimes feel like leaving your wife. Thus ending up in a mountain of debt.

The thing about Meermin is that; despite enjoying a stable life with our wives, we just can help but take a gander at our ex's FB profile or IG feed. Inadvertently we go back to our ex (gonna borrow a rap term here) even tho we know dat ****y stank to enjoy some sloppy seconds.

This is when Meermin becomes that low maintenance side piece that you keep around so you can try new "styles" you're not sure your wife might enjoy. You call her when you want to, even though you know you really shouldn't.

Then you end up with unworn Meermins.

Err.. I'll show myself to the door.

Saint Crispin’s / George Cleverley represent the woman of your dreams. The one that's perfect in every ways that you can't imagine ogling, much less; caressing one. She's pure and chaste; undeniably the goddess. There's virtually no flaws or imperfections, but just mesmerising beauty and enchanted charm. You always hope you can have her in your wildest dreams, fantasy but you feel unworthy of her love. Moreover, it's difficult to comprehend spending time with her for fear of dying of auto-erotic asphyxiation. But you hope one fateful day, just once that she can catch a glimpse of you. And all that matters. Hah.
