Thanks! Was quite afraid that I would botch it up during the process and have to send it to Dandy to be "saved". Was quite a learning experience for me. Took me a while to get everything I needed and then spent working on the layers at night on and off over a few months. Fun but very tedious and have to be very meticulous.

I toyed around with idea of doing other colours but somehow green seemed like a good and easy shade to start with.

Luckily it turned out ok....

You used dyes instead of polish to build up the darker areas yea? Are they sold locally? Was following RR's patina thread on SF awhile back seems like he liked to use Fiebings

Worse than Bata.

I only v recently found out that Bata is in fact a brand that is NOT local or Malaysian.
I'd always had this idea probably because we all bought our white canvas, communist like school shoes from there. Or maybe because of that "buy and throw away" image constantly projected.
Bata is in fact a very much international brand originating from the Czech Republic. With a 120 year history of shoemaking. I think they make very very decent shoes at that kind of price. Certainly a good way to spend your money instead of resorting to pedro or beetlejuice. Our whatever the f××k they call it

Yeah, I used saphir dyes. You can get them locally or you can order from overseas.

Mine is a squeaking noise that comes from the sole at the vamp area. I can feel something rubbing at the ball of my feet when I flex my shoe.

I did hear from some of the guys about their Edetal shoes having a squeaking issue they did manage to get it fixed though I'm not sure how.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind working on GYR welted shoes.

I'm ok with working on cemented shoes but the leather has to be relatively sturdy as well. I've got no experience with stripping colour off leather so I'm concerned if the leather is not sturdy enough, it will get damaged to the point of no repair. I'm not sure if the stripping agent would dissolve the cement as well.

Like mentioned by another forumer about his shoe revealing a strange backing after the leather chipped, I wouldn't want to end up working on a shoe and in the end, not lasting long enough or damaging it because the leather was sub-par or "Genuine leather".

So only give me shoes which you are willing to trash/lose. I don't want to disappoint anyone by destroying their favorite pair of shoes.

How about Borse Morgan?

Previously my Borse Morgan in about a year, the sides (between sole and leather) begin to split resulting in water seepage.

Well this is the usual problem with the cemented (glued) soles, over time the glue doesn't hold anymore.

But Borse Morgan is still better than my Rad Russell which is really the worst I had.

Other brands I bought like Ecco, Rockport and Geox lasted a bit longer.

If you rotate your shoes where it gets it least 1 day of "rest" it will be better, so get at least 2 pairs (maybe a black and a brown).

I got a pair of Heerings which has black and grey patent leather. I want to change the color for the grey portion to burgundy.
Do you think it is possible to dye burgundy over the light grey?
But I think I gotto try and strip off the gloss before the dye is able to color the shoe.

Burgandy over light grey should be do-able. I'm not sure about patent leather though.... removing the coating may damage the leather. You might end up with suede.

Did a quick search and it seems that the coating might be really thick and may be difficult to remove, if it's even possible in the 1st place.

do you all buy shoes as of exact feet size or slightly bigger ?
Because i come across this video

shared in FB by a local shoe maker and the shoe laces are tied together.
I often see this in departmental stores and i tried to do this at home, i cannot get my feet in even with a shoe horn. Whenever I wear the shoes, i need to redo the shoelaces after i put my feet into them and undo them when i reach home. And due to the design of some shoes, if i buy a bigger size, i will look like mickey mouse or ronald mcdonald.

Can share your experience on this ? Thanks!
