Crease-free leather perhaps? Like wrinkle-free shirts. :D

On a more serious note, the shoes resemble way too much like DWs. The broguing is exactly the same. I'm not surprised if this was a spin off from DW. E.g. one of the partners broke off to do his own stuff while still using the same factory as DW.

There is a pic of a pair of Meermin shell (Japanese origin) which showed some creasing (SF).

Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the shinki cordovan after owning a Japanese wallet made with it... Wallet and shoes & boots made with Horween shell feel a lot sturdier...

Most people think Carmina cordovans are best value for money/quality.

I am still mulling over a pair. But it ain't right to have 3 pairs of new shoes waiting to be worn.

Well... cause Carmina mostly use shell cordovan from Horween.
For their workmanship and material used, the value is really hard to beat esp. comparing with Alden which has borderline QC but high prices...

Aiming for a pair of Carmina shell chukkas in due time myself.

If anything, Carmina's last and resulting footwear are so beautifully sleek despite using such a thick material as shell. Alden's shell chukkas are too chunky for how I presume a chukka to be :D

And yea using Horween is a big plus

step 3 and 5... recommend to use difference horseshoe brush or same brush? :D

Well it depends on how anal you are. I don't see any issue using the same brush since Renovateur has no colour.

Personally I separate my horsehair brushes by colour groups, i.e., browns, reds, black, neutral and a general brush.

Hi All,

Just a quick question, like to know which Saphir color I should use for Meermin Chestnut Antique Calf?

Heres the link to the shoes i own:
https://www.meermin.es/articulo.php?idArt=4609

I have applied Saphir Wax - Light brown onto the shoes, however, the colors dont seem pleasing and i start to doubt my own judgement since.

Can someone advise.. Thanks in advance.

You can see the chart and decide as to the tone you want.

If not going for the actual tone, general advice is lighter colours for dark shoes, darker colours for light shoes.

IMO from that website pic, I'll go either Havana or mid brown. Leaning towards the former.

Don't use Saphir DB though, its almost black :s12:

No direct experience but I doubt Alden QC is poor at their price point, and they are a known specialists in shell cordovan shoes But Carmina gets my vote for their sleeker lasts and more contemporary designs.

Would consider Alden shell loafers and boots, if going for an 'old school' look. But probably not for laced dress shoes.

Note that the colour scheme is on white background. The effect on your shoes (which I believe wouldn't be white) could be different.

Apply a small amount at an inconspicuous part of the shoe 1st (suggest the arch area or part of the shoe tongue that is not fully exposed) to see the actual effects and consider if you want that for your entire shoe.

If not then good reason to buy another pair of shoes to match the creme or post on carousell! :s13:

U are right.

The correct thing to do is to buy the Carmina cordovans and start wearing them, together with the 3 pairs waiting to be worn, ASAP.

Thanks Hotlikebutter! Its indeed very helpful.. I will look at the colors again and pick the right one for Chestnut Antique calf..

Just like to mention one thing here, i was rather disappointed when i first received the shoes as the difference in the color is pretty obvious.. Its so unlike whats its like on the website.
