Would UB's double degree programme be worth it?

Wow, thats great to hear! It'd be strange for me to see such young people around me taking the same course..

As for me I scored 9 points (L1R5 before bonus) for my O levels a few years back and I kinda flopped in Poly due to laziness and wrong choice of course..

So to ask, judging from those who are taking the double degree programme at UB, is 9 points enough to secure a placing?

Also, what would be the average score people enter UB with?

i would say you sure landed yourself a spot there. but if you've flopped bad enough in poly, you would not be able to secure additional exemptions, thats all.

but honestly, i think doing double degree is no joke. already people could struggle with single majors, doing additional stuff means you either graduate later, or you pack your schedules to the max. in my opinion, packing schedule is a sure suicidal way because you wont be able to do well consistently in all modules unless you have tip top time management.

Well it indicated on the site that the double degree course would take 4 years instead of the normal 3 years to complete.. So I guess that stretches the load out a bit.. The course seems quite easy to enter and enrol into.

May I know what are the average scores people get in with?

Currently I'm taking the DD programme, so just to share a little on it:
- There are some modules that are conducted online; that is to say that you have to watch online lecture videos and do assignments/quizzes posted online as well (usually with a deadline tagged to it). Final and midterms will be held in the SIM though.

- Some lecturers do fly in from the US, especially for the summer semesters. (That doesn't mean there aren't any for the Spring and Autumn! THERE ARE!)

- Demographics for classes...usually more females than males (cuz of NS for the guys). Depending on the classes, there may be some mix of foreigners but usually locals are the majority.

- In terms of whether it's a hectic lifestyle...well, there is a maximum credits per sem set, so that averages out to 5 modules per semester. If you manage your time well and such, having ECAs would not be a problem

What foreign languages are available at SIM Global's UB?

There was also this segment of the education mentioning free electives. I don't quite get it, does it mean that I can choose any module from other UB degrees offered at SIM Global?

my opinion is.. it is not worth it at all @ 50ksgd... i rather pay extra 20-30ksgd to do my degree at australia. why not go for UOB biz management degree after graduate apply for msc finance/accounting/ACCA/CFA... it is still look way better than with just an UB undergrad degree.

80K for a oz education? why worth it?
graduating from OZ paying 80K for it still bring home same salary as a some DL grad.
ROI higher? I have fail to see any true stats on that.

UQ today cost AUD$27,675 in tuition or sgd$34K add living thats over sgd$40K.
no way to afford the honors yr.

go UK to some Uni like Cardiff.
fees is at gbp$10.1K or sgd$22K add living expenses of gbp$6.2k or sgd$13K. thats 35K, 1 yr exemption.. under 80K get a honors degree.
do well can go LSE or what not read masters for a yr, with a bach from OZ, thats 2yrs at LSE! end up spending more $$.

For students studying here, foreign languages would mean Chinese ._.
And that's the only language that is offered at UB @ SIM. (Unless you fly over)

In terms of free electives, yes, that mean you can choose any module from other UB degrees. Say for example you are taking a Psych degree but you are interested to know more about Marketing. Marketing would not be under the list of modules that you need to complete, so it becomes your free elective.

So to say, locals who passed the chinese langauge do not have to do any foreign language whatsoever? Man I was thinking if I could do japanese or korean, its really a pity they do not offer it at UB..

Yes, that is the case for SG. You're free to take it out of curriculum time though.

However, if you are going over to Buffalo, you could take up the other languages. They even have other modules such as dance (Latin dances etc) available there.

Yea the full and complete array of modules are extremely attractive.. But its just too bad the ones offered locally are so limited..

Well, one of the problems that they face is partially being unsure of what languages that students would like to take up. If the array is too large, they may not be able to find the appropriate teachers to teach.
