I used to be a super loyal Sony TV fan.
For 30+ years. Over several models of Sony TVs.
When my Sony TV died, I looked around to buy another Sony TV.

The prices of Sony TV nowadays are very extreme. Not just high.
I cannot afford.
The salesmen at the Harvey Norman / Best Denki / Courts all a bit snobbish about Sony.

I bought a TCL Google TV which surprised me with its quality and ease of use.
Very cheap.

I won't be going back to Sony.

Bery good leh, two images for the price of one… Your mum tan tio

Honestly, nowadays with planned tech obsolescence, TVs spoil in an average of 3-5 years just to get people to spend more. This will bite back the big players as consumers might as well go for cheaper TVs like Xiaomi/TCL/Hisense, but image quality still decent.

They‘re all going to spoil so fast anyway, buy expensive TVs also no point, just save your money.

my Panasonic lasted me around 2 years before the screen produced static images at the lower half

cost me around $1K odd, thinking that it was money well spent on a quality brand & it would last a long bit

chucked it in store for possible repairment, later

its replacement is currently a brand that no one would even bother, Hisense, but lasted me a good 3 years so far, if not wrong

if this goes kaput sooner or later, the next one will still be the one of the same league
e.g. TCL

no more high end brands for tv :s22:

Have the same issue that happened recently with my Sony TV.

But with some vertical and horizontal lines on the screen and will fade to black after turning on for a few minutes.

C'mon, u don't use Samsung as the yardstick for tv durability. I said many times before on this forum, avoid Samsung when buy new tv. I've heard enough ppl telling me about their bad experience with their Samsung tv liao.
Mine also just spoilt. The warranty ended May last year. Not getting Samsung or LG again. Getting a TCL which is so much cheaper and using a much better and responsive Google TV OS

nowadays companies don't care for quality, only profit. things aren't made to last like in the past. that's why buy cheap better. in fact I find Chinese brands more reliable these days.
