I am surprise how "clean" the HyperOS CN on 14 is compared to MIUI. There is much less prompting and redirecting you to China specific app (GetApps instead of Play store). As someone coming from 13U with Xiaomi.EU, I don't have the urge to change to EU ROM unlike the 12/13 series.
Some glitches of app crashing during setting up, but seems to be more stable with more usage. Overall feel it is a much better phone compared to 13 vanilla especially with camera that is almost identical to the 14pro. So far only con is fingerprint is lower than preferred, but for smaller size phone, its not so bad.

So far any update after receiving the phone? Need to connect VPN to China or SG home WiFi to download update?

how was the power drain for 14?

they could have done on MIUI as well. read more felt MIUI is smoother. didn't like how they handle transition, should have rollback in event of issues.

13 is using 1" sony sensor. while 14 leica lens better, would prefer bigger sensor

anyway I think need longer term evaluation for new sensor, screen & OS

So far battery drain, in fact battery life is better than my 13U on EU ROM (older version, newer one is reported to be more glitchy). No MIUI on 14 to compare, but it does feel smoother than 13U on MIUI and Hyper.

Camera wise, 13 is not using 1", only the pro and Ultra are 1". 14 is vastly better than 13 vanilla, probably comparable to 13 Pro and lose out a little to Ultra at tele. But if that is of concern, X100 Pro is probably a way superior contender. The key here is 14 vanilla is the only sub 6.4" device with near flagship level camera. Personally find 14 Pro a so-so device, inferior to the latest group of flagships, but 14 vanilla being small while sharing almost similar camera module as the Pro is a much better choice.

normal use all are ok. but with 14 getting sensor, screen & OS, probably better to watch first. also xiaomi camera software feels weak to me. like on 13T, HDR don't get see effect in real time, only see after taking the shot. auto white balance sometimes wrong in certain light situation.

Don't see anything really new. Sensor is still from OV, screen from TCL so is 13U, OS as much as being hyped as a totally new OS, its still mostly MIUI at the core, any bugs can easily be solved with updates as well especially since its their flagship level. As far as camera, its still the same typical Xiaomi issues mostly. And again, if you are out for best image camera, you shouldn't even consider 14 series as a whole when Vivo has proven better. Beside with HyperOS, the advantage having option of flashing Xiaomi.EU is more or less gone already.

i thought 13U using sony IMX989?
auto white balance works fine on my cheaper redmi note 12

that's why i say xiaomi software department is weak. such basic features shouldn't be buggy. will just stick to redmi series for daily use

And do it's nothing new, OV isn't a new brand, CMOS isn't a new technology.
i never say brand is new & old brand can innovate & release new sensor from time to time. i rest my case …
