Apple -> Own exclusive ecosystem
Samsung -> Almost end to end manufacturing advantage
Xiaomi -> ?? dark factories
apple and samsung try to cramp ALOT of tech inside. so often assembly v difficult all done by robot.

xiaomi give up on alot of things. even basic things like video out to hdmi also dont have. but upside is its easy to assemble and almost fully automated. you can tell from the green coloured screws. its also v easy to take apart and repair lol

I see.

Didn know XM does not support USB to video HDMI.

But I guess depends on needs. If that is a requirement then choose an appropriate handset.

For me requirements are simple, surf net, messenger apps, and most importantly take good photos so that rules out phones with tiny imaging sensors.

Not true leh, I hot desk at office everyday; plug into any USB c hub and I get to use the HDMI monitor , and if there is a keyboard mouse setup, I can use the XM as an Android desktop.

Xiaomi ceo said development cost for n3e chip is about 1 billion usd. If produce 1 million chips, development cost alone is 1000 usd per chip. Higher than the selling price of the phone and tablet.

Xiaomi 15pro sold slightly above 1 million units. Xiaomi 15s pro released so late when qualcomm elite 2 and mediatek 9500 launching in 4 months. Impossible to sell so many unit already. Maybe use in next year mid range phones to recover a bit of the development cost.

Pad 7 ultra carries the chip as well.

I guess it might still not be profitable but a good trial run for subsequent iterations.

Or simply tiered a gen away from snapdragon as a "midtier". The situation is like how the recent Exynos is usually late for Samsung Ultra flagship which ended up using Snapdragon.

So many huawei fanboys and paid ib on internet deflaming xiaomi for development of flagship custom chip. Claims is just arm reference design. lol.

Xiaomi just won a lawsuit recently in china against an ib syndicate that controlled tens of thousand social media accounts to launch deflamation campaigns on xiaomi su7 ev.

if they put the chip in a mid range phone like Redmi K series, I definitely wouldn't mind giving it a try. the chip seems competent, and having more viable options in the market is definitely a good thing for consumers. though in the end, still TSMC monopoly... really hope samsung fab, or perhaps even in the future intel fab can become competitive again...

Very unlikey for Sammy and Intel to catch-up given the quality and culture of these orgs. Both their foundry services really CMI.

PRC fabs on the other hand with enuff poaching/stealing of TW talents and access to asml etc would be able to catch-up.
