Xiaomi 16 series will have straight screens and LIPO tech​

The Xiaomi 16 series is shaping up to be a tremendous departure from previous designs, and a new leak is generating quite a bit of excitement among Xiaomi fans. According to insider Kartikey Singh, on X (formerly Twitter), the Xiaomi 16 Pro and 16 Ultra will ditch the curved screen design for a straight screen. This is a tremendous change since Xiaomi’s flagship digital series has had predominantly curved displays since the Xiaomi Mi 9. Also, the whole 16 series is rumored to utilize advanced LIPO (Low-Injection Pressure Over-molding) technology with impossibly thin bezels in mind. The move to straight screens might surprise some but appears to be innovation-driven rather than cost-cutting. Singh was emphatic that the decision has absolutely nothing to do with cost-cutting. Instead, the utilization of LIPO technology signifies a premium design choice.

Benefits of Utilizing LIPO​

• Slimmer Bezels: The primary advantage is significantly thinner screen bezels.
• Improved Protection: LIPO also safeguards the screen’s wiring.
• Premium Design: It assists in achieving a more modern and streamlined appearance.

The leak shows that Xiaomi is designing for bezels of under 1.1mm, and the black border and frame have a combined width of about 1.2Xmm, achieving a visually stunning four-sided equal-width design. It is notable that Apple first used LIPO technology on the iPhone 15 Pro to achieve a border width of 1.5mm. The Android camp, including the OPPO Find X8 and Xiaomi 15, has also caught up.

Only benchmark apps are whitelist to run at peak performance. Normal apps are run at lower performance even for games or the benchmark app renamed as other app.

15s pro xring 01 battery life is just few percent less than 15pro sd elite due to the non integrated mediatek 5g modem.

pura 80 is ryyb 1 inch sensor by another china company. Smartsens sc5a0xs. Same 110db dynamic range as omnivision 1 inch sensor.

Considering the whole package, the Xiaomi 16 won’t be an extraordinary upgrade over its predecessor. There are some nice improvements like a bigger battery, new cameras, and, of course, the presumably faster, Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. However, it may not be the biggest upgrade for those who already have a Xiaomi 15. It will still do the job well in most of what we expect from a flagship. But of course, the Xiaomi 16 Pro should be fancier, and the 16 Ultra will take the lineup’s crown.

yeah..XM usually existing owners can skip 1 or 2 generations..esp for flagship.

This smartsens optics is co-developed with Huawei if I remember correctly.

Huawei can keep their ryyb camera sensors for themselves. Pura 80 still have colour tint issues in the camera app viewfinder, corrected by the maple colour sensor in the processing after photo taken.
