I am using ST 3Mbps too. No problem with HD contents up to 720p.

As a general guide, speed requirement is about 500kbps for SD, 1Mbps for DVD, 2Mbps for 720p, 4mbps for 1080p for properly encoded videos.

Most of the time, the lag is due to the international pipe and the servers at the streaming site.

------ Greg, u using wireless or wired?

I am using wireless. Have to make sure that the wireless performance is not lower than 3Mbps. I install speedtest.net on the box to test, to make sure that the internet speed over the wireless link is 3Mbps, same as wired connection.

i do not understand why the box is having trouble with the connection using an original RJ45 converter.
it is so bad that the inbuilt speedtest refuse to run.
i can't stream anything wired .. so fustrating!

For those wondering why the many recent cases of:
- "认证失效" on Xiaomi iCNTV
- missing channels and slow speed on 芒果TV

This is probably the reason: 广电总局约谈牌照方强调规范:将严惩跨界行为

In a nutshell, China authority is asking the 7 China IPTV licensees to strictly follow the guideline set down when they obtain their IPTV licenses... else they will be suspended.

i dunno "how long" also.
some sellers are pricing this "service" between $7.90 to $10.
any guys can shed more light?

If you need to update firmware then you goto root again. Might as well "open" yourself and add what you want.

the china forum posting rooting and enabling OTA update without affecting rooting is really BS lol. Lucky thing is F.O.C and only upon trying then realize.

There is a post earlier in this thread on how to solve this.
Anyway, from memory, goto settings -> video -> playback -> acceleration
under hardware acceleration, uncheck everything except for one that starts with "lib..."
Reboot XBMC and try.
