Did the factory reset to default & finally can get the WiFi detect, thanks, but find that movie is not watchful due to frequent buffering, mine is on Singtel fibre 200M, router is Aztech 7002.

Have you tried running speedtest? I'm getting almost 100mbps on 5GHz wifi and i have 100mbps starhub fiber broadband. in fact wifi is faster compared to ethernet via USB to ethernet connection which I only got 50mbps.

I used org.zwanoo.android.speedtest.apk to test.

so far streaming is quite good for me.

What application you're using to watch movie?

still trying use th default Icntv app to watch the free movie, very lagging , every 10 sec it need-buffering.

My friend bought a unit at Sim Lim for $120, the salesman say if we bought the unit direct from China cannot watch they modified the unit in order to watch in Singapore.

Yeah can, the set is not locked at all, you can jailbreak, root and everything else.

A bit challenging for me because I don't understand chinese but there's a lot of tutorials online.

Oh i think because the default apps are meant for chinese residents so there might be some network restriction, not too sure myself because I don't use those apps at all. you can try sideload some other apps to stream like youtube or something.

Don't get fooled. No need to modify in order to watch in Singapore.
I got mine from taobao, no jailbreak or root.

Default iCNTV meant for China only.
Just download 电视必备 and install cracked app like youku.
Test the different app to see which one is fast for you to watch smoothly.
Some source you need VPN to watch smoothly unless your ISP is MR or VQ
