Thanks a plenty. That worked to install Gmail & YouTube. However, I still cannot airplay over my YouTube feed on iPad to MiBox.

Actually upon booting up YouTube, i do get an error message. I can't sign into my YouTube account. Tried resetting my mibox again & repeating the whole process ... Same odd YouTube problem.

Yeah installing the apps are no issue but linking it with your google account is the problem with the mi box.

Have you tried the steps from HERE?

I don't exactly remember the proper steps I did to get google account settings working as it's pretty much trial and error but the above link is a guide.

Got mind working still now even without fqrouter.

Actually there is another way to airplay ipad to tv box - by using youku XL.apk. Just install this version to you tv box, reboot the box and you will be able to see youkuXL in your airplay list on ipad.

Does the Airplay on this works well?

Mirroring support? Supports those iOS apps with Airplay support?

All the airplay receiver apps I tried are just horrible, including the built-in airplay on the mi box. So terrible, doesn't even surf the purpose of an Airplay receiver.

yes, this particular version of youku works. Not many people knows about it, even youku themself also don't mentioned it.

I found out by accident. It works on ipad mini, not on iphone4. have not tested the rest.

One important point to note is that you must turn off the built-in airplay of the box,and use only youkuxl.

BTW, by itself it is a very good apk with tons of media.

Tried the Youku XL from Shafa but seems like same problem with other AirPlay receivier apps.

Is there a way that I can get to the native android Settings, rather than stuck at XiaoMi Settings?

Hey gregory, do you know what's the name of the built-in airplay app that needs to be disabled?

I found Mi-Link(Airkan/DLNA/Airplay) Services, is that it?

Well i don't read chinese myself but google translate does the trick and it worked in the end.

I have my mi box rooted before attempting this.

Theres an english guide for rooting on https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=F8AAA9F96C9C7172&id=F8AAA9F96C9C7172!276

If the can't sign in youtube, you may want to try the alternative-youtube or googleTV. If you can sign in, then you don't have to depends on airplay to push the video to the box. Can use the youtube's history list or "play later" to watch video. This is my preferred method.

googleTv only needs the google a/c manager, don't need service framework.

So in summary (to watch YouTube in Xiaomi box):
1. Install YoukuXL. But only on rooted box
2. GoogleTV, requires Google Acc manager.

The usual YouTube apk does not allow sign in.
