I know how to order from Taobao, but they have only jailbreak oversea version which the seller said can access to 1000+ China channels and 200+ oversea channels from TW/HK etc, that's all.

What I wish to have are Malaysian channels, EPL, education channels like NatGeo, movies. I don't know how to configure the channels myself, so do you think if I should buy from SG sellers?

Anyone can share on the self-configuration steps please?

There are many SLS style box on Qoo10 selling xiaomi. Advertised for $59, but you are not allowed to buy at $59. Normally have to pay 50-100% more.

Good apks are freely available on internet. No point to pay $30-$50 for the seller to load in the apk. You can do yourself in a few minutes.

I have compiled a good list and I posted in on facebook, all are welcome to download and use them.

For apple product, jailbreak will give you admin right. In android box it is call root.

These sellers mentioned jailbreak on android box, what they actually meant is they opened up the packaging and install a few apks for you.

Another way to con people - install a few apk and named it jailbreak, sounded very hard thing to do, and they will charge you more than $30 for it.

yes, use the remote install method. You need a desktop/notebook.

But my advice is to get gen3 instead. slightly bigger, more powerful, 2 usb port and sdcard.

download on ur pc, share out the folder, use the 高清播放器 to access that folder, then can run the apk

it is one of the cheaper brand. The apks will work. But you have to try your luck. I have seen a few reports about the faulty USB ports.

If this is going to be your first box, get one from the more reputable companies, like xiaomi, himedia, tian mao, minix.

I have ordered mibox 3 from Qoo10 which cost me $76 + few dollars delivery. Thought of getting from Taobao but actually more expensive considering higher shipping charges via special air (because contains batteries). If by sea is cheaper by few dollars but is a long wait. Moreover it is easier to deal with local seller than TB seller if got problems.
