So looking forward to Mi Note 2 :s12:

First time Xiaomi user. Like to ask, any issue to look out for?
My previous experience with MIC phone was with Meizu Pro 5 and LeTv 2. My issue with LeTv2 is, the phone gets hot after using a while. Meizu Pro 5 always have issue with Whatsapp delayed delivery. Like when the phone is in sleep mode, any incoming Whatsapp msg will not come in till the phone is awake. No issue with Wechat msg though. Hope i won't face the same issue with this Mi Note 2.

Any kind advice from Xiaomi expert user here? Kumsia many many in advance :D

Mi Max has a rather big screen, bigger than your mum's Note7.
If not you can consider the Redmi Note 3 too.

If your mum wants a more premium phone, the Mi 5s Plus may be another choice too, albeit no local warranty as it hasn't been launch in Singapore.

Those Xiaomi phones you see on qoo10 are mostly export sets that doesn't come with official warranty, maybe the store warranty probably.

If you get from official local sources, there's one year warranty.

Guys. If you are having issues receiving notifications from certain apps,(eg: Pushbullet)
Disable the permissions manager completely and that will resolve all notifications issues

Enable developer mode> additional settings>
Developer options>enable>
Scroll down and turn off MIUI optimization
Reboot device
Open security app>permissions>Gear icon>disable the first option.

The permissions manager is junk anyway..

Look like Meri got cancelled? No news or whatsoever. But if they want to release this phone, I don't think they will use their own processor. They can use Mediatek which is more powerful according to leaked benchmark. Then there's rumor of Redmi Note 4X or so called Snapdragon 625 or 653 edition of Redmi Note 4.
