so apparently the issue of the rattling noise comes from the sim card tray... and its a problem for all mi4i... in other words it is part of the "excellent" design...

for all of u who want to understand what im talking about, place your phone on a hard surface like a table and tap your phone screen slightly harder, a few times.. you will hear an echo "tick tick tick" sound like something is rattling inside.

so if ur thinking of sending ur phone in to get this "problem" fixed, apparrently its not considered a problem at all. and yes i have tried populating both sim slots and the sound still can be heard.

so i got my near new motherboard swapped for nothing.

ps: just out of curiousity in case they rigged all their phones in the showroom, can any bros here pls perform the test and tell me im not hearing things? pls

its a matter of perspective. lg g3 was hitting 60-65 deg when watching youtube. mi4i was 50-55 deg. i did see 60 before but rarely.

on another note, can anyone tell me if their phone makes a rattling noise near the top of the phone when u shake it or tap it?

mine sounds like something is loose in there. at first i suspect it was the camera plastic ring but when i press my finger against it and shake the phone i still hear the rattling noise.

It depend on which Miui version you are on. G3 has a more powerfull processor.

its not a loud sound, just very distinct. imagine a box of tic tacs is your phone and inside only have 1 piece left. then you put it on the table gently.

no matter how softly u put it down that 1 piece of tic tac will shake abit and make a soft echo rattling sound, like a "tick".

try putting ur ear near the top edge of the phone when putting it down.

last thing to try, and only do it if ur comfortable with it, is lightly tapping the top of the phone against a table (as though u are tapping ur fingers against the table).

this will make the most audible sound and is how i convinced the xiaomi reps that my phone got problem.

My Mi4i doesn't have any rattling sound when I shake it.

not shake it. shake it is only when its really bad like my original motherboard.

my new motherboard cant hear anything when shaken but i can still hear it rattling when i put it on the table top-down first (meaning u land the top of the phone and slowly lower the bottom)

its very distinct like something shaking inside

then get a 2nd hand redmi 2 bah. this phone no resale value. + out for some time liao. no point getting 1st hand.

lots of sellers selling the phone in tip top condition.

mi4i is considered overkill in your case.

Would like to seek some advice on setting the phone to display the contact's photo during incoming call.

I have Caller ID enabled.
I have assigned photos to most of my contacts.
When they call, the phone only shows the caller's number and name, but I'm also hoping for the photo to show up.

This feature has been around on all my previous phones (even the non-smart phones), so I'm thinking I must not know how to activate it.
Any kind soul can point me in the right direction?

check ur settings in Settings->Contacts

Cannot find that particular setting
Screenshot%201_zpshzmalkcm.jpg

There is a settings page from within my Contacts app
Screenshot%202_zpsfrehfjxd.jpg

I turned on both options and still... no help

This is what my screen looks like when I receive a call.
Screenshot%203_zpsrpgegcnx.jpg

I can only see the contact's name and number. But a photo would make it much quicker to identify at a glance.

I tried switching Themes, and also removing the lock screen wallpaper. Still same.

And so I shake my phonephone after reading this. Hear some thing inside. Truth is, I never needed to shake it like this. Haha..

So possibly don't bother me in anyway. This is the first time shaking it after so long..

You don't hear it if just flip the phone on the table.

i din notice it when i shake the phone, i notice it when i put my phone down roughly. i heard something loose inside my phone and freak out. i thot i bumped my phone too hard and something broke

i mean phones are NOT suppose to have things inside shaking and rattling about. doesnt give a solid feel
