I seriously doubt so. As it is, demand already far exceeded supply within China's domestic market. In addition, the next place to launch this model will be in India. Both are huge markets. Singapore is really puny compared to these 2 giants.

Any chance of this being available by end-may before the next computer show ? Any feel ?

Following these steps will lead to the same issue that i faced, Google contacts sync will not work, in addition to process errors that u will face. I posted the solution to this problem in the Mi forum and i will post it here as well ...

** FIX FOR Mi5 USERS WHO EXPERIENCED ISSUE WITH GOOGLE CONTACTS SYNC **

The version of Google Contacts Sync app that comes with the one touch Google Installer V2 app WILL NOT WORK with Mi5. This is because the older version of Google Contacts Sync app is not compatible with Marshmallow. You can download the updated version of the Google Contacts Sync app here:

http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...gle-contacts-sync-6-0-1-android-apk-download/

Follow these steps:

1) If there is an older version of Google Contacts Sync installed, uninstall it first.

2) Install the downloaded copy from the above link.

3) Go to Apps Permission and allow it to access your contacts.

4) Reboot phone

5) Go to Google Accounts in Settings and make sure contact sync is turned on.

6) U should have your contacts synced without facing any more process errors.

download the Google Installer APK and load it to Mi 5, follow the steps thereafter

Bro, i do not recommend getting the phone from where i bought from because of the massive delay in shipping. In addition, some local retailers will be getting new stocks next week, priced about the same as online retailers. In addition, i had to pay for GST and another $10 for Qexpress handling fee.

You can get the Mi5 from Mobile Hardware at Burlington Sq for about the same price. I was told their stock will arrive next week. A 'Xiaomi' store at level 4 of SLS also mentioned that Mi5 stocks will arrive next week.

Can the bro who bought FM qoo10 for $5xx.PM me the link?

Officially the Base model retails for 1999RMB. At this price, many of the local chinese consumers are not able to get hold of one, much less for a foreign buyer. Who will sell u one at cost? Even at cost, u will have to factor in shipping and GST.

because all this Mi 5 that's available in Singapore is sold via parallel importers, therefore you can expect a markup in price for Mi 5

true on this, even the locals at there have a hard time securing one set but as time goes by, I suppose Xiaomi will be able to supply more Mi 5 stocks at a faster rate

thewiseone, for the 4G/3G mode of this phone, must it be 4G on one sim and 3G on the other sim? Is 3G/3G possible?

Any combination. U can have 3G/3G, 4G/3G, 3G/4G, etc. ;)

Software switching on the fly...

Mi5 updates are quite frequent. Today i've just received another OTA update to MIUI 7.2.7. Supposedly improves system stability.

'the second one will be limited to GSM connectivity only'

I think what this reviewer meant to say is that with one SIM connected to 3G/4G data, the other SIM will be limited to a voice connection only, be it 2G or 3G.

Reviewer kept giving wrong info sia... (about the 4G/3G connection)

You can also compare price in China and price with Xiaomi.sg for those model they bring in. It should be around the same as those sold by parallel importer.
