am considering getting a 2nd hand export set for my wife.

also, are we able to get the official set in Johor Bahru's KSL or City Square?

In the first place, you see official xiaomi stall in this 2 places?

Use the latest English mi suite and boot to recovery. Select R.flash and it will flash to China rom. You need to wait awhile for Windows to stop looking for driver when you connect the phone to pc.
This method don't need to unlock boot loader.

To flash to global rom, need to download a specific Chinese mi suite and press shift key when you launch the mi suite and select global rom OTA zip file.

Both above method I learn from miui forum.
Miui forum a lot good stuff, spend some time to read up.

If kena modified rom, how to revert original rom ah? #mesonub

and Thorus is selling to retailer.

So i'm wondering whether there is any likelihood to buy mi5 in City Square or KSL at their official price.

In general, if their pay is just 16% lower, than 519 is on par with our 619. If much lower, like rm6000 vs S$4000, then pricing in malaysia is comparatively higher.

Cannot expect inly malaysian that work in sg to go back to buy.

btw, i just did a calculation on purchasing Mi5 directly from TB via ezbuy. Using ezbuy's Buy For Me service, the phone cost $440, that's $20 for the service. Adding $30 for GST and probably another $20 for the sensitive shipping, it'll cost around $490 - $500 for the phone. And that's without any warranty!

I'm not sure whether it is safe to buy the phone on my own, saving the $20 for the service charge. I'm just afraid that I might receive a empty box. hehe

If we are able to get Mi5 at $519 from Malaysia, I really think that it's a good deal. On top of that, we can check the phone on the spot, and it comes with remote warranty hehe

shopback gave me 2% rebates, my cc will give my 5% rebates, so aft nett off, i only paid like $422. If i decide to take up the 1 year warranty with the shop, that's $482

You won't feel the processor speed diff also running normal app.
Anyway, 32gb suitable for light user.
