Are you certain a factory restart will resolve the issues of no gps, one cpu core not working, overheating, and dead battery within 3 hours? Because other forums do not agree.

Why don't you give it a try? Or flash to global stable? I had no issue on 8.2.1.0

Bro, your issues won't be resolved by talking on the forums without doing any work yourself. You get suggestions and test it out is how you go about resolving issues.
If I were you, I'd go one step further by using the wipe all option while doing a clean flash again just to eliminate possibilities that it doesn't get flashed properly the first time. Like I've mentioned, alot of people have used this rom without problem so you should try reflash with wipe all first

Beta rom can only ota to beta roms.

You need to unlock bootloader in order to flash global stable.

Any different between beta and stable rom in term of user experience? Been using this beta rom for few days without any issue, any risk if update to stable rom?

My mi5 was prompted to update to 8.1.2.0 and I updated it last week. Google safetynet test was a pass for my set on 8.1.2.0 global stable.

But now i am back to 8.1.4.0...

Beta will have more experimental stuffs. Overall xm's beta has been quite stable. No issue sticking on beta...

There is not much risk to flash from beta to stable.

Just need to unlock bootloader then use mi flash to flash. Do take note that prepare for all data to be wiped...

Agree. IMHO, beta is more like a lot of things and features packed in one go but generally stable in terms of usage, more buggy for features. Stable is like the tested and confirm working things packed, though sometime can be goes wrong in some users' usage and might not have the features you always wanted in beta.

Thanks for the advice. I have looked at the various websites and am not sure which is a good method - concerned that I may brick my phone.

Please note I have not unlocked or flashed anything on my own. I updated the phone via about > system updates. So it was an official release per say and its completely fked the phone.

If you go to the official xiaomi forum website too. There are many many complaints by people.

I'm happy to system format my phone, but when it boots up again, I'm sure it's still fked cause it's a bugged software release.

It's a joke. If Apple or Samsung release such a poor update, a fix have been released in days. But it's been more than one week and xm hasn't released any fixes

Again I warn all not to update to 8.2.1.

My phone is a China model as I had to install Google app myself. Which was a pain at the start. Google contacts would sync and loads of sync and errors.

Anyways. Never buying xm phones again. Gives you so many things to fix when trying to save a few hundred dollars.

Thanks for your reply. I already apply for unlock bootloader and hope to flash the rom within 1 month warranty period.

That's why I buy the Mi5, apply for unlocked bootloader, spend 1 whole night flash rom to CM13, then spend another night flashing to Lineage 14 and now, I can flash L14 nightly easily.

The hardware of Mi5 is really really good, the only thing sucky about it is the camera but given that I paid low $400s for it, I can't really complain :D

I won't be surprised if my next phone is still XM but I hope for a better camera.

i have a mi5 64gb,

it was a bootloader unlocked set which i unlocked myself on a chinese set,

working fine since sep last year.

i recently got an update to miui 8.2.1.0 global,

when i boot the phone there will be a red logo at the bottom that says unlocked bootloader,

also the android version says its 7.0 NRD90M,

is this becos the the lastest rom OTA update?

any advise appreciated!

TIA!

edit: i just realised that the in google pay store it says device is uncertified, i believe the update caused it to become uncertified - it also results in my apps not being able to be downloaded.

any way i can get it to be certified and allow the apps to download again?

The google playstore is a known problem for global 8.2.1.0.
The workaround is to go to settings, installed apps, google Playstore, clear cache and uninstalled updates. This is a temp fix.
What I can suggest is downgrade the rom to 8.1.2.0 or 8.1.4.0.

Upgrading rom doesn't change the status of bootloader.

The funny thing is that although the apps don't update themselves immediately, the apps will eventually update when I check it on a later date.

8.2.2.0 released. Seems like it has solved the playstore issue. However, customized ringtone in whatsapp still not solve.
