3 days into using MIUI 9 Beta rom (currently using eu rom 7.9.8 on Mi Max Prime)...

It has been impressive as promised by Xiaomi especially so the speed and smoothness as well the new animation.

I can also heard the significant improvement in Audio quality in earpiece mode, be in mp3 playback, video watching or YouTube playback.

So far, all my apps are working fine with MIUI 9.

This is only the beta rom. I think the upcoming Stable rom will be very impressive.

Anyone managed to enabled VoLTE on this Mi Max? Irregardless what operator you're using. And provided it's already activated on provider's side.

I'm using StarHub, and unable to get it done with Mi Max. I can get VoLTE using my Redmi Note 4 MTK but after change some settings in MTK Engineering mode.

Provider side enabled it for MI Max 1? You checked with them? VoLTE is not just carrier dependent but also device dependent. Carrier can choose which device to allow VoLTE service. They normally only support all models sold by them. I tried looking for solution to this to no avail.

No brand from taobao. But after pasting, have to apply the transparent oil to cover up all the air gaps on the sides of the phone.

EU rom 7.9.8 (basically the China rom) has brought back the Back / Menu buttons switch for folks who are crying for it.

I am crying for it. But still not update yet.

Yes. That's right.

Long press power button to shut it down. Then, press power button to start as per normal.

Why hang? Did you download the correct twrp or not?

Hydrogen for Mi Max 32.

Helium for Mi Max Prime.

MIUI 8.5 series and MIUI 9, pick the hydrogen_7 or Helium_7 respectively.

The _7 stands for Android 7 based ROM.

Also, your phone must be in the Fastboot Mode for installation of twrp.

Anyway, in MIUI 9 Beta,

You can change to Long Press Back button to take screen shot and I think it is so much better than 3-finger swap down!

Don't put oil is worse la. The adhesive will take up dust even quicker.

I've applied it in my Mi Max 2 and it's still clean after 1 month. I think must apply properly also if not the dust will seep thru the gaps. Cannot tahan those full coverage tempered glass without any adhesive in the middle.

That can be clean up easily. Problem will oil mix with dust is bad. Especially oil started to "flow" into phone thru gaps at the LCD screen.
