1) Have you enable developer option?

2) Have you done this: Security Apps -> Permissions -> Setting Icon-> Off Install via USB.

Do I need to do point 2 to flash to China rom?

Anyway, it is always the best practice to backup your stuffs to cloud storage on a regular basic especially the newly added items.

All my new camera shots are backup to Google Drive manually so that if my phone died or SD card died, my latest photos are in the cloud. No need to bang my head against the wall.

Bro, why not install Google photo? It will auto backup go Google. No need to manual upload go drive

Either way, if sd card suddenly died.... Haha.

Having said that, SD card hardly died suddenly..

I think the probability of SD card dies over the other factors are much much lower.

even your nova launcher ,Google contacts calendar, your pics and notes too.
I'm puzzled how come the backup file still intact despite I have flashed the phone.
anyway to me, I'm satisfied with this feature.

for china ROM, you have to manually add Google account after the restore of backup file.
but if you are skeptical, please do a backup on your SDcard and sync your Google first.

I went the other day, there is an official Xiaomi booth that sells the local set at 349 and also Newstar selling china rom 32gb at 289 and 64gb at 369 (if i rmbr correctly)

thanks all for the advice. shall answer a few ppl at one go:


3) i followed all the instructions abt installing google, was able to install google play store. but when i click anything to install, then it just refuses to install and playstore hangs.
4) even tried the flashing method, but it stops because the software says "cannot read from port"

So i am quite bad at this, so need help. thanks a mil in advance!

3) after installing from the 谷歌安装器, don't start playstore first. go under settings>installed apps>downloaded>go to individual Google component> scroll down to the end permission manager> go in and tick all those boxes under the second column>reboot HP.

4) using miflash, off your HP, on your PC, get ready the USB cable to connect your HP. before that,hold down volume +- and then power button ,quickly connect the cable to the HP within 2 secs after you hold down power button. your PC should regconize your HP port.

Thanks for your tips. Did u notice if they accept old hp trade-in? I'm looking to buy a local set for my sis, less configuration work for me after purchase. Seems like outside regular hp shops sell cheaper, then no pt going down to be squashed in the crowd.
