Yes, managed to get TWRP and 8.1.3 installed.

But I then clear data and dalvik cache

Now phone is stuck at mi logo when i boot up.

Tried to go to recovery by pressing volume up and power button, but mi logo comes on and immediately goes off.

I still can got to EDL mode but can only flash twrp, not able to flash the fastboot rom.

Can go into the official Fastboot mode by switching off the phone, plug in cable to Mi max, then press and hold volume up and Down buttons and power button at the same time. Then plug into pc port, first vibrate, release power button. 2nd vibrate, release both volume buttons to a blank screen?

Then use miflash to flash the official global Fastboot rom...

the .tar fastboot rom i extracted but its a single file.

After extraction of tar. You should see a < rom name folder >, then <Image> folder with a lot of files inside bah...

Cannot be one single file. Something wrong with your extraction method.

That means your pc still cannot detect the Mi Max driver which should show a Qualcomm 9008 under Port in device manager.

Does that shows?

Follow this guide. Replace the china rom with global rom.

shag, my mistake was i need to reenter EDL mode button when i had an error in order to flash again, just refresh in the miflash is useless.

and I had to use miflash beta and not miflash.

OK, information sharing time.

Bought my set from Simder trading and this is the original power adapter that was "removed".

According to the guy, the one they are selling is also rated at 5v 2A.
Exactly the same as this but has got the safety mark. It's also bulkier.

And this is the charge ratings when using the China charger along with the Mi Max's charging cable. NOTE: I believe this cable is made to perform for QC3.0 charging, as when I initially tested with a blackberry cable, the unit was only charging at 5v 0.9A. Once I switched the cable, output increased.

Estimated time remaining while on the 2A charger:

Capacity charged (ignore the total time, I forgot to take the picture when it was full):

And lastly, I just bought a silicon case from House of Mouse (Esplanade link, their main shop is at Textile center) - $3.90 only!

For SP, I bought the film SP from Simder.
House of Mouse has tempered glass SP selling at $5.90.
Does not cover fully, but covers most part of the screen (up to the black edges).

Cheers all! :D

Actually, after a while, you really don't feel that the 6.44" screen is that huge anymore even though the physical handset itself is still big...

Go back to look at my 5.7" Note 5... Gosh... It is so de tiny the screen now... My eyes cannot take it...

MiMax sounds like a ultimate phone for mama.
big screen & long lasting battery for their candy crush needs

6.44" phone is still a nope from me, too large to put in pocket :s13:

I’ve been using large phones since four years ago with the
first Galaxy Note from Samsung. This is the first large size
phone at that time in 2012. I’ve been loving giant phones
ever since and never look back, jumping quickly to the
5.9" LG Pro2 when it was first launched in 2013.

They come with many advantages, and sadly many mobile
phone users are still negative and in great ignorance.
The Mi Max 6.44" is a real pleasure to use and Xiaomi has
every reason to be proud of its innovative efforts to
beat the competitors.

It not only has bigger sound and bigger sharing opportunities,
the extra display size means more people can enjoy a movie
or news article with ease. the bigger and louder speaker
makes volume less of an issue.

Moreover easier typing, reading are pleasures which
smaller screen users never have as they got used to the
difficulty which I never understand why getting the largest
font size is an option. On a larger size screen smaller fonts
are more fitting and enhanced visual impairments.

In mobile commerce small screen phone users are
sometimes tired to navigate more and more to choose just
one item when shopping online. Remember smartphones
are not built with the main purpose to be put specifically,
and nicely in your pocket.

I can see the trend in fashion design for the future is
bigger pockets for both dresses and jeans.

Innovation
has to move forward and nothing can stop it for better
living and future lifestyle. =:p=:p=:p

actually just hold volume down and power button, with or without the cable plugged in on both ends, doesn't matter.
