Actually mi mover kind of sucks. I just checked and it seems apart from sms, the other data were not moved properly. For example, the all the video files were stamped with wrong date.

Contacts also weren't moved as well. Notes also didn't get moved.

Looks like need to find a good mover app or a better way to transfer data.

Anyone have suggestions on best way to migrate data from old phone to new?

starbutt, maybe can try backup your files on your mi3, then transfer the backup file to a sdcard then insert into mi max.

you need to check which exact location to transfer the backup file into the max.
restore backup files in the setings>additional settings>backup and reset>local backups.

Trying to use mi mover to move my stuffs from old phone to new and it seems to be stuck at restoration of some apps. Anybody have similar issues with mi mover hanging at restoring apps? All the other stuffs like SMS, audio and video were moved successfully though but none of the apps from old phone has shown up on the new phone. And mi mover is still showing restoring...

I guess I might have to do factory reset and just transfer the key items and avoid any of the apps? Haiz. Still can't poon pee pee yet.

Used mi mover many times, 85% working.

Previously even able to move email (not gmail) accounts over but that feature disappeared...

Just some info on newstar in case anyone here contemplating getting a set from from them.

Actually I don't think I would have bought it if I saw the shop front. It looks just like another ah beng phone shop and is manned by 4-5 ATs and I think one local guy. Surprisingly they were doing very brisk business with many people collecting or sending their unit for service.

That said, the China guy that help me flashed was quite courteous and helpful. He apologized for making me wait so long to get my phone fixed.

I guess most of their sales are done online (shoppee lazada) though there were a few walk in customer whom came to check and enquire about their price.

I guess I won't mind buying from them again if the price is good after this purchase. Fingers crossed that the set don't fail me after the one month warranty period is over.

Haha. One problem. My mi4i no have SD card slot.

I think I need to find a USB to go adapter to do that. Will try when I get my hands on one. Thanks much.

I am not sure if my problem is due to my old phone running low on space. But mi mover on old phone shows everything moved successfully and only issue is the new phone just hung at restoring apps.

What kind of data you need to transfer?

WhatsApp can use Google backup
System apps you can back up to micould and it should prompt you to restore
Games, I'm not sure cos not much gaming. And the ones I play, can retrieve back my history from Google Play.

Actually I guess just SMS contacts, notes, WhatsApp, media files. Apps I could probably just reinstall from apps store. Was hoping to have a lazy man way of doing it. :p

seriously, I find mibackup is very good, it backup all stuffs. just that you may have to create Google account after the backup.

this ipaky case can hold the sim extension thingy as the back is a soft case. will only feel alittle bump.

Using it for my mum with the sim extension
