I personally didn't try this. But somebody said that MIUI 8 got encryption for microSD card also.

Problem is that, if your phone is spoilt, you can say bye bye to the data on the microSD card liao.

The microsd is meant to store insignificant stuff, ie movies. However, from past experience using Redmi 2, Android will create additional folders storing unknown stuff on the sdcard. I can't tell whether there's any private stuff there, hence my concern.

It's hard to get any kind of sdcard encryption answers.

I have never gotten Mi Max into EDL mode so far. Hope he can.

For us, no need to unlock bootloader. Skip those sections.

Download Mi PC Suit in order to have the Qualcomm 9008 driver installed in your pc. This driver is a must for the miflash tool to recognize your Mi Max in fastboot mode.

Disable Windows driver verification signing. This is the guide.

Somebody else might have one single full guide for Mi Max. I don't have, sorry. Coz I also read bit by bit, jumping around different guides to learn one. Lol..

Btw, is it necessary to request unlock code from xiaomi before flashing? Will unlocking the phone expose it to any security vulnerabilities?

anyone can recommend a good and sturdy car phone mount for mi max? gam sia.

This was one of my consideration as well. I brought my existing car mount to challenger and tried and it can just slide thru without activating the spring clip mechanism. So don't know if it will be secure.

I think need to bring phone to SLS or those pasar malam to look for a more sturdy one. My existing one was bought from SLS.

Actually, I believe there are many more lurkers on this thread that probably bought the same. Otherwise the gold one wouldn't be so fast OOS when the link was just SIC yesterday.

Actually, long story cut short one.

It is easy as 1,2,3 once you understand it. Don't be scared by those long story guides. The guides have to be in that detail for first time newbie nia.

As I always say... It is just a 5 minutes job after spending 50 minutes, some took 5 hours reading and understanding the steps lol...

Yes. That forum app has been included in the last few versions of miui rom on Mi Max liao...

Volume down + power is fastboot.

The method I shared earlier was EDL which is volume up + down + power

EDL will be a blank screen, whereas fastboot will have a nice fastboot icon greeting you if yours is not on custom ROM.

So, the cute Bunny mode can be used with MiFlash to flash a Fastboot rom too just likes using the EDL mode?

I remember that my previous Redmi Note 3 uses EDL mode to flash leh! Or was it in Fastboot mode on Redmi Note 3...? I could be confused with my Redmi Note 3 all the time too sia!
