According to this review, Kirin 970 is marginally better than Snapdragon 845 in benchmark tests:

Huawei’s Kirin 970 Outscores Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 In Test

https://www.androidheadlines.com/20...utscores-qualcomm-snapdragon-845-in-test.html

The power consumption for the chip itself should be similar since they are built on 10 nm FinFET.

The real world speed and power consumption depend on the manufacturer's optimisation of hardware and software.

This could qualify as fake news. The report dates back to December, while the Snapdragon 845 was launched and measured only in March with the Sony XZ2, Galaxy S9/S9+ and Xiaomi Mix 2S.

The Antutu score of 213258 for the K970 is slightly better than the performance of the SD835 but nowhere near the 260-270k consistently registered by the XZ2, GS9 and Mix 2S.

Check out the latest test results (from the last few days):

https://unite4buy.com/Huawei-P20-Pro-antutu/

As expected, the SD845 handily wipes the floor with the K970.

Mix 2s is indeed very fast and much cheaper than other leading brands. If the camera video quality can be improved slightly, I would love to get one. I used to buy Xiaomi phones before I gave up on the camera.

Kirin 970 is around the performance between Snapdragon 821 and 835 only, which is quite not at the flagship performance level as compared to other 2018 flagships such as Galaxy S9 series, Xperia XZ2 series, Mi MIX 2S etc.

That's right. Also, its power management is not as good as SD. Worse, quick charge is Huawei own standard and not QC3.0 compatible.

Never believe in these benchmark test. This is just like test in PC. AMD result is always better then Intel. But in actual usage. Intel always win.
For power consumption, is not a matter of hardware only. Overall power management (software/firmware) in the chip play a important part.
The next consideration is price. P20/20+ is almost similar price to Samsung s9/s9+.

Yes the huawei p20+ camera looks promising but their processor not as stable as snapdragon.. some games or apps might have problem. at 40 % cost reduction the mix 2S is a much better buy..

You used a Huawei with Snapdragon SoC? So you have never used a Huawei phone with their own Kirin SoC. You already lost your credibility. Dont wink at me, it dont make you look smart.

My only thought is wait a few weeks for Mix2S or a couple months for Mi7 with bit smaller display, which I prefer.

Problem is I need a phone definitely in the next couple of months and no news of Mi7 launch. Mix hits all the right numbers but screen size I think is big for one handed navigation.
