Barring the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, most of the major announcements from the mainstream players in the smartphone industry have been done and dusted. But Xiaomi does not seem like it wants to be left behind when it comes to specs and releases.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 merges the curved edge displays with the latest trend, dual cameras. A series of images of the device were leaked onto Weibo (unfortunately, the main source would not load for us), giving us a good look at the device and its curved display.

As is visible, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will bear a dual-curved edge display, much like the Galaxy S6 Edge, or the recent Note 7. The curved edge display is a 5.7″ display with QHD resolution, and will come bearing an implementation of 3D Touch aka a pressure sensitive display. As for the specifications, the device is rumored to be bearing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, along with options of 4GB or 6GB of RAM (in the higher variants). The device will also come in different internal storage capacities, giving users the option between 64GB/128GB/256GB. The device will also reportedly sport a USB Type C port, a beefy 4,000 mAh battery and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The device will also run on Android 7.0 Nougat, but with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 skin on top.

The camera setup on the Mi Note 2 will also be interesting, as the device is rumored to bring the increasingly popular dual-camera setup. The rear camera will be two 16MP sensors placed side by side, along with an LED flash. The front will be a 5MP shooter for selfies.

>1ksgd? that's a pretty crazy price

I hope that's not the surprise the CEO was talking about, pricing it above all other flagships. going the google pixel route?

The main attraction of xiaomi is the price and you take that away? Nothing left liao. Not even if the design has no bezel

If it's true, going back to Apple. At least the fruit can last me 2 years w/o problems.

Xiaomi has to have a product that has a high price tag, in order for them to price themselves high. Something similar to Huawei's Mate and P series.

Though I think RMB4999 may be a likely price, but rumors are saying the highest will be RMB3899.

Xiaomi pricing has gone ridiculous. When they entry market, the hype was cheap and full of feature compared to big brands, if some may remember. Now is, sell price as closing gap with big brands. No more cheap. Thats why i stop buying their products. Rather stick with Apple, or others

Every brand has a range of products, with a flagship range catering to those who wants a premium phone with the current advanced feature and a budget range catering to those who just need a phone for daily usage at an inexpensive price.

The Mi Note 2 will be packing in a premium body with a dual curved display which is an upcoming feature that will be common in more flagship phones as time goes. As always, the Mi Note 2 will be packing in some of the current advanced specs, including the Snapdragon 821 and many more.

Mi Note is the premium flagship series of Xiaomi's lineup, which is to brand them as a premium phone maker. No company would want themselves to be always branded as a cheap brand, and Xiaomi has the ability to come up with premium-looking phones too(look at the Mi Note and Mi 5), it's just whether consumers will accept it as it is and pay for the price of it, since coming up with premium phones will definitely factor in high production costs too(nothing comes cheap if you want premium..).

Of course, you are free to choose any brands of your choice as it's a free market, so whatever that floats your boat. :)

The model number is confusing to many. They have Redmi note and non note series. Then they have Mi series doing the same. So buyer need to take note if it is a Xiaomi Mi or Xiaomi Redmi phone. Worse, when you gotten a real phone. Its logo is just Mi, even for the Redmi series.

Good for those ah beng shop in Sim Lim or People park as some customer may just buy without notice it.

In China, many still think Xiaomi is those "clone" brand due to their early history. Now Xiaomi try to sell in up market, yet to have good success story. This year they lost quite a lots in term of $ and market share on handphone area.

xiaomi pricing has been quite okay thus far, including the mi5s which has comparable specs with other flagship (sharing same CPU and camera sensor with google pixel priced double).

Which is why i find the figure thrown out as surprising, absurd even, because it's double the price of the 5s with the same SD821. Costlier than other flagships even.

You have to remember that the sets which reach SG will likely have no warranty. The local warranty sets will probably arrive 3-4 months later at a 50% price premium like the mi note and mi5.
1k for a no warranty phone? no thanks. and the resale value is probably a third of the apple.

Indeed, it could be hard for ordinary consumers to identify the phones well(with some people keep on referring Redmi Note as Xiaomi Note, smh :s22:), so would be good if Xiaomi were to distinct their Mi series with the Redmi series.

Good tip. So Mi series is white?

nope. only for their early 1st & 2nd gen redmi phones. now all the same.

and i'm not sharing any tips, just lamenting on why xiaomi dropped red capacitive buttons on their redmi line (when it can help to easier differentiate their devices).

I was thinking about this too, but Xiaomi could be thinking to streamline their design. :o

The red capacitive buttons is a distinct icon of the Redmi series, sad that they removed it and changed it to white, same as the Mi series now.
