Prefer the Mi note. Currently using Samsung note1, bad impression of samsung (not impressed even when its still new last time).

Was very impressed with Mi note on the other hand. And the MIUI much better than Samsung UI IMO.

Samsung cums with all kinds of crappy bloatware that cannot be removed.

MIUI on the other hand, don't have such limitations. Already removed many google apps that is preloaded on the phone.

Redmi note 3 actually has a better processor than Mi note, thats because technology moving too fast. The high end Snapdragon 801 can only considered mid-range now.
But the difference of Mi Note vs Redmi Note series doesn't stop on just processor, Mi note got better build, material, craftsmanship and better quality part. For example, the front camera on Mi note though just 4mp but the photo taken is much better than 5mp one on Redmi note 3.

Hi all,
I'm considering switching to Android (after many years on BlackBerry and Windows Phone / Windows 10 Mobile), and so far, I'm considering the following:

1. Xiaomi Note
2. Huawei Mate 8

The price for the Note is significantly lower than that of the 8, so this represents tremendous value for money, for me.

However, I noted that there is no SD expansion capability for the Note. Am I correct?

Also, how is the Note for day to day usage? My usage patterns are as follows:

1. Reading PDFs, eBooks
2. Listening to MP3, FLAC audio
3. Watching the occasional movie in MKV/MP4 format
4. Heavy emailing & calendaring
5. Heavy texting (SMS) and instant messaging
6. Light web-browsing
7. Heavy note-taking (Microsoft OneNote)
8. Viewing and editing Microsoft Office documents on mobile
9. Taking photos
10. Usually in 2G or 3G mode. Hardly use 4G due to excessive battery drain.

Main concern is battery life and camera quality. I would like the phone to last a day in between charges.

Would appreciate your opinions...

Thanks!

I just got my mi note about a week ago, according to your usage, there should be no problems with the battery. I use the mi note 4g from morning to night, still can last whole day.

You got the Mi Note Pro version or the standard version?

Just got the Mi Note for my father. Previously on Redmi, he was using the Senior theme which is a very simplified UI layout meant for old folks. I can't seem to find it on the Mi Note; can anyone guide me to it or there is no such feature on Mi Note?

I don't think the Mi Note has it, only the Redmi and Redmi Note series have Lite mode.

Play Store should have some launcher apps turning it to Lite mode too, can search for it~

I did. No prob so far

I'm unable to update to latest firmware. It just gives me an error message saying "Oops, something went wrong".

Have already did factory reset, even tried installing firmware using Mi recovery to no avail.

Anyone knows how to solve?
