Considering shield vs mipad.
Prefer 4:3 ratio screen for better reading experience. So bough mipad

I also prefer 4:3 aspect ratio for tablets. Which is why I like iPads and the MiPad is just right up my alley. I hold my tablet in portrait orientation most of the time, I use my tablets mostly for web surfing and reading. I find portrait mode and 4:3 aspect ratio is perfect for both of these tasks.

I had a Nexus 7 2013 but I didn't really like it as the screen felt very crammed when being held in portrait mode. I feel the 7" screen size and 16:10 ratio is only good if you are the sort who does a lot of video watching on tablet.

Longtime XiaoMi users and fans,

How long does it take for XiaoMi to deliver major updates? Like the forthcoming Android L update. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the Android L update.

My understanding is that MIUI 6 is based on Android 4.4. Btw, is MIUI 6 coming to the MiPad? On my MiPad right now, it says I'm on MIUI-KXFCNBF4.0. I'm a new XiaoMi user, the MiPad is my first XiaoMi device. I'm planning to get the XiaoMi Mi4 to replace my BlackBerry Z30 as a secondary phone when it launches here. So far, I find MIUI to be pretty pleasant to use. Most probably because I like iOS and its simplicity and ease of use, mainly its single app tray, which MIUI emulates to a very large degree :s13:

I really do think XiaoMi is a very good alternative for iOS users who want to try out Android, as its Android skin offers the closest experience to iOS.

Totally agreed with you. Mipad is still the best if you want an iPad experience.

But I have been playing around when the Shield today and it was really fun.
The HDMI out is a killer option.

I think it's weekly/fortnightly update.
When i got it, it was on "MIUI-*******1.0" Using it for almost a month.

MiPad is running on KitKat 4.4.2.

I think that the OS on tablet and phone are diff.

On tablet:
- No theme store
- Widgets are gather as one page on left side.
- Not like other android that can put widgets & apps on 1 page

Bought from a fellow hwzoner. Price not so low but acceptable at 460.

Problem is no accessories so I got my SP and back SP customized.
For controller, my Moga Hero works really well.

Will shop for the original cover.

Whom did you get the shield at this price? Want to get it as well.. hehe

Bought second hand la. He was not a dealer
But box was sealed so new.

The form factor is not suitable for reading. But I am using mainly my retina ipad mini for that. More of video, gaming on the Shield.
Actually mipad is the best of both world. See how long the Shield can sustain before I go back to mipad again. :)

Which do you like/prefer more for tasks such as Web surfing and reading? iPad Mini or MiPad?

Right now, I have an iPad Air and the MiPad. I'm thinking whether or not to get the iPad Mini LTE(this year's one of course) for outside use. My iPad Air is LTE enabled and the MiPad is wifi-only. I would love to bring just my MiPad out and keep my iPad Air for home use but it can't use my data plan, so I still have to lug around my iPad Air :( if it supports LTE, I definitely will not be getting this year's iPad Mini. Anyway, I have a few more months to think about it :D
