Screen is not retina lah... is IPS but resolution higher equivalent to retina. The user experience sucks big time compared against iPad. Hopefully xiaomi can improve on miui v6 further for the future updates.
Just like the router initially launch with limited function after that subsequent updates makes the router usable.

Agreed. I currently own both iPad Air and MiPad. Previously also owned iPad 3 and various Android tablets. Also had Surface RT for a short while. So far, iPad Air is the only tablet I owned for more than 1 year. I was almost going to cross the 1 year mark with my iPad 3 as well, but I stupidly sold it off so I could buy and try the Surface RT(big mistake).

I still think iPad provides the best tablet user experience. iOS's app ecosystem is unparalleled, and this is especially true for tablet-optimised apps. Most of the apps on my MiPad are stretched out tablet applications, whereas the same app on my iPad is an optimised app. Apps also tend to perform better on the iPad. I also find the MiPad is not very cleverly designed. Let me give you an example. The home button is capacitive touch and many a times I have accidentally brushed against it while doing something and it returned to the home screen, interrupting my task. This can happen a lot in landscape mode. If I accidentally brushed against the home button on the iPad, it doesn't return to the home screen, as the button requires you to press it.

But having said that, the MiPad is very good value for money :s13: I bought it to test it out and even though I find the experience to be quite subpar, I don't really regret buying it as its a steal at the price I got it at and it is perfectly fine as a secondary tablet.

Brave Frontier lags on ALL android devices.

Tried on Oneplus One, Nexus, Samsung s3, s4, s5, note 3. All lags.

U put same team to auto battle. The iOS device complete 12/12 already, Android one still at 7/12 stage.

It's the coding that matters. *i believe* android seems to have some animation super duper lag Feature, specially to android.

Hey guys,

My Nexus 7 (2013) suddenly up lorried a few weeks ago, so now looking for a replacement.

I mainly use the tablet for ebooks, magazines, and reading. Not much for gaming at all.

Never really liked the dimensions for the Nexus 7 (16:9), makes it a little awkward to read ebooks. Either it is too "squeezy" at portrait mode, or too "short" at horizontal. Had to pinch in and out endlessly.

Anyone who does extensive reading on the mipad? Would the 4:3 would be better?

iPad is overpriced for me, budget is around 300 :)

Thanks :)

Yeah, because Gumi Asia has the most crappy developers.. Its obviously a SHITTY ios port and not a native Android game. :s8:

I own both an iPad Air and MiPad. I do read on my MiPad, but mostly light reading. For prolonged reading, I much prefer the iPad. But yes, I used to own the Nexus 7 (2013) as well and I agree with you, the screen size and aspect ratio is only suitable for watching videos or gaming. MiPad is much better than Nexus 7 in that regard, especially if you also read comics. I'm like you, I read ebooks and magazines on my tablets, as well as the occasional comic. Web browsing is also a better experience on the MiPad, web browsing experience on the Nexus 7 always felt very "constrained" for me. But I would recommend an iPad Mini though:D

May I ask why the iPad mini? Is it the software, fonts, or the screen?

Actually i don't quite fancy iOS, i prefer to have file managers to manage my files. Namely PDFs.
(note that i was an iPhone user, and my whole household is on macs)

Thanks for the reply :)
