Another thing, i supposed Mi TV's builtin Android is the same as an Android box? so does it actually requires "manual" rooting before external apps can be installed (i.e locked system) or simply can select the Allow 3rd parties apk within the system settings?

think selecting allow 3rd parties apk will do.

1.1.70 is the best firmware thus far with no ads and issues.

if the dongle does not require extra drivers to be installed, it can be used.

I actually plug a 7 port USB hub to the Mi TV 2. Then plug a USB wireless mouse to the 7 port USB hub, can use.

The mouse I use is similar to this :

Can the video player play srt subtitles? Or any way to get MX player install

Yah. The TV connectivity is pretty awesome.

Just play whatever movie file, I think the OS will automatically put in the subtitles for you.

By the way to view the video files, go to the "Video Player" app. Just play whatever movies that you see there and see whether the subtitles appears.
