The Poco X4 Pro was widely considered to be something of a disappointment in part due to the unimpressive Snapdragon 695 it was equipped with. According to new information, the Poco X5 is on the way—and it could arrive with a much more powerful chipset.

The Poco X4 Pro arrived back in February as a direct successor to the Poco X3 Pro. While the latter was incredibly popular thanks to its high price-to-performance ratio, the Poco X4 Pro seems to have been considered a disappointment by most fans. Xiaomi seems to already be looking towards the next entry in the series, with word of the Poco X5 now surfacing.

As revealed by Xiaomiui, the Poco X5 is on the way. Xiaomi failed to launch a vanilla Poco X4 this year, so it's interesting to see that a Poco X5 could be on the way. It's important to note that early rumors of the Poco X4 Pro labeled it as the Poco X4, so this device may end up being the Poco X5 Pro instead.

As for the device itself, it's supposedly set to be equipped with a 120 Hz display like the Poco X3 Pro. Fans may consider the lack of an AMOLED screen to be a huge miss. Gone is the lackluster Snapdragon 695 on the Poco X4 Pro. In its stead is what appears to be a Snapdragon 778G+, which should suffice for the Poco X5's price segment.

Lastly, the mid-range phone is reportedly listed on Xiaomi's IMEI database with the model numbers "220101320C", 220101320G", and "220101320I", for the Chinese, Global, and Indian models respectively—with the Chinese model set to be Redmi-branded. Additionally, it's said to be codenamed "redwood".

Ain’t poco x series related to redmi note. So x5 should be redmi note 12?

global launch date 6 feb , 8pm sg time

poco x5 5g
poco x5 pro 5g

my personal guess is $369 and $469 price range respectively

x5 5g = snapdragon 695
pro 5g = snapdragon 778g :s12: too bad i already bought my phone last year before gst , couldn't wait for this to arrive and be discounted downward in mid-2023

both 6.67" oled with the Pro having better screen features
both have 3.5mm jack

if x3 pro is on SD 860, X5 equipping with SD 778g is considering progress or regression?

Doubt on 778 too. Seems like an old chip to me.

Extracted from gsmarena:
Most of those cpu throttle test that I found doesn't start from cold but after other tests, I seen as high as 270K and drop as low as 140k for 870 from a cold start by Sai Tech Guru

Of course if you can afford it, a 870 is way better than both 860 or 778g.

it's a sidegrade.
In terms of product release date(x3 pro vs x5 pro), chip for chip, it's considered a regression.
The 860 actually has a slightly better gpu

So aside from oled, the new phone is no better than 2 year old model that cost less. The F4 seem like a better buy if got discount.

X5 Pro is reportedly a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed edition... I like the look of the X5 series phones but the big black patch with the Poco branding kind of spoils it...

And if u notice... the higher-end Pocos do away with the big black patch and have a much smaller Poco wording/branding than the lower-end ones...

10% less weight compared to last year's pro

can be felt on hand ... inside shop I could feel the difference between 180 to 200 gram (vanilla 6.43" vs redminote11pro 6.67" )
