Its seems that xiaomi miui has in built adware and collects personal data(possibly including username,PW etc).

http://en.miui.com/thread-294530-1-1.html

http://en.miui.com/thread-469156-1-1.html

I notice the same issues on my phone, redmi 4 prime.
There are in built system Ads that popup now and then. Sometimes it just auto install the app advertised in the app automatically.
Anyone else encounter the same issue?

So which 1 recommended to get for my mum? Redmi 4, or redmi 4 prime? She wants a phone with gd battery life n camera + affordable price?

Is it advisable to get from q0010 without warranty? Jus saw xiaomi sg selling redmi 4A, seems underpowered?

Anyone using xiaomi phones here and do ibanking using it and their data compromised /accounts been hacked?

If use PayPal, cld it b safer?

i haven't used any ibanking apps but i did top up my activesg account via ibanking once about a year ago.... haven't got any notification of any attempt to access my bank account so far. i was using a redmi 1s or 2 at the time

i'm also waiting to see if the 4 prime gets launched locally too

The availability in Singapore officially is unconfirmed still, since the Redmi 3S is still retailing less than 6 months.

Xiaomi phones are generally safe to use in my honest opinion.

Yes. In fact some products dun even gt to sg! So is it recommended to gt redmi 4 or 4 prime?

Do u guys buy these phones with warranty on qoo10? I see sme sellers offering 3/6/12 mths warranty, isit worth it?

well anyway products from Xiaomi or any kind of phone makers, have to go through some checks and test by IDA, b4 confirming that its ok to be use in SG. (except that Samsung phone was a unexpected kinda of phone :s13:)
but please dun forget that anything that is sold officially in SG end up need to pay high price (but with local wty ofc)

well most of the time for ur mum normal use, 4A or 4 is enough.

As for warranty, mostly are shop warranty, and the phone is actually export sets bought by them.

if u wanna get from local, probably have to keep waiting for another 6 more mths??? (i guess?)

Hi tkx for the info. Will look up more on the specs and decide which to gt. Wad does it mean by 'shop warranty'? If ur phone breaks down they fix in their shop for u? Or isit they help u send back China for repair /RMA?

Do note that those XM phones from Qoo10 are mostly "export" sets, idea is same as "parallel import". And they're not subjected to the same IDA checks.

If phone spoils, if shop knows how to fix, they can fix locally. If is those strange problems, then they will send it back to china for repair. Whether the shop wants to eat the cost will be a big question mark. That's the problem with "export" sets.

probably is the same for lazada as well - export sets.

for me just go for the cheapest one, from shopee, qoo10 or lazada. (though might not have long shop warranty or any thing extra to go with it as well)

Err. If not wrong IDA don't check the phone lay.

I think they only ask for lab test report and CE report. As Long everything written in the report fits SG standard. They will approve it. Like the band it support, wifi and bt..

Correct me if I am wrong
