i hate Mi Video too and also disabled this app.

and cos of this, I can't play back video straight from the stock camera app right after recording, I can't play back from "Gallery" either.
On my Redmi Note 10, i can only play videos by opening them in a 3rd party video playing app.

May i ask do you have this problem on your Note 14?
Xiaomi can set default apps. Go to setting, app, top right 3 dots, other setting, default app

U can set to the app u want.

Just got a RN14P+. Using the default black case. Ugly. Transparent case would be much much nicer. Problem is I m flying on Thur. So asking anyone here has a transparent case to spare. I come pick up tmr. Of course, will pay u.

is it better to get 4G or 5G version if I intend to use the phone for 4-5 years and no intention to change to 5G plan as it's more expensive. 4G won't get obsolete yet like 3G right?
4G won't get shutdown since 5G is still gimmicky, till the 2030s probably
3G started in 2001, 4G 2009, 5G 2016
Using the lifespan of 3G , that's a good 8 years gap
2024 3G shutdown +8year~ = 2032~

tks..I'll get the 4G version then since it's cheaper and it also has more major android and security updates.

I tried. It didn't solve this video playing problem. So irritating leh.
Eg. I've already set default app for playing video to "Xplayer",
but when I click a video inside gallery or file manager, it will pop up dialogue box :
Permissions required, Mi Video can't access videos on your device. Allow access in the settings.

Why like that ah??

default app =/= accessing setting. You need to go into app permission to change access for videos. But weird that Mi Video do not have access to videos, or lilely you disabled it by accident. If you are opening from gallary or stock file manager, most likely it will use the built-in player or Mi video.

consider using google photos or google gallery as default photo/video viewer

Ya as @DesilDesil has mentioned... no need to get 5G set for your case as 4G will still be around for quite some time. If I rmb correctly, u have been using Poco X3 or X3 Pro right?

Haha ya... Note 14 camera is also quite good for its price and I think u'll also appreciate how much less bulky it is than the Poco X3... :s12:

GSMArena review have now also confirmed

4G video recording can do 1080p 60fps
While 5G somehow weaker at 1080p 30fps

But 5G camera has OIS stabilizers, so depending on what you want more

Gallery or file manager will always use default player which is Mi video i think. Its only when u just downloaded some video and tap to open, u can choose ur other player from there. If u open from 3rd party file manager u also can choose player.
