some observations about redmi note 3 miui.

1. google voice typing keeps turning on after restart after disabling it.
2. can't set lock screen and wallpaper if not using the default launcher.

I know why my RMN3 no OTA update. Actually, it had few days back, but it was a link to a chinese worded site, i thought was China rom.

Now when i check updater, it doesnt have any new updates for me. I noticed my version: V7.3.6.0.LHOCNDD, i always thought i was on global rom cause my phone is in Eng, but i guess it mustve been CN rom all along, just with eng words.

Qn: Can i install the Global rom over my CN rom instead? I dled the Global rom zip package (said to install using updater). It said it will wipe my data though.

You can't cross over from China to Global using updater.

You have no choice but to flash global with a total wipe out method using a global Fastboot rom. Not the zip package that you have downloaded.

Is there a diff between China rom and Global rom? China rom can still be switched to Eng language right?

Else, i may just have to wipe all data with Global rom. Any app backup program to recommend besides Tit Backup? My phone isnt rooted so i cant use it

China rom can switch to English but the loaded Apps are very much China based and more suitable for the Chinese there. There isn't any Google play store pre-installed and even if you can side load it but you will get hits with many expected compability issues thus errors when using your phone.

Global rom is 100% Google Apps and features friendly thus no issue and complication and no occasional cocked ups.

It is good to use global rom for users outside China.

Just flash to Global rom. One time job. One time pain. Long time happiness! :)

I'm not too sure about backup apps. However, Titanium backup has been one of the best backup apps since centuries ago.. :)

Seems like the RMN3 is holding up well against the Redmi Pro.



How come the video on the Redmi Pro looks so laggy? Is it really that bad?

In settings > lockscreen, you can choose to separate the shortcuts.

I've separated them already. It shows me the notification screen instead of the toggle layout screen when I pull down..

It used to by default go to the toggle layout screen...

anybody experience spotify suddenly stopped the music on Redmi Note 3? especially while browsing/accessing internet. I encounter many times on miui7 and miui8 too
