Unscrupulous parallel importers just trying to get rid of dead stock and inferior models... no one buys the MTK version.

Unless they got Jover Chewed.

Always stay away from MTK processor if what you need is more then a phone.
This is just like AMD vs Intel in PC world.

You mean this→ http://www.lazada.sg/exclusive-flash-sale-xiaomi-redmi-note-3-2gb-16gb-gold-9223859.html?

If it is, Xiaomi is doing a special promo price for the 2GB/16GB Redmi Note 3 at just $199 to celebrate their official Lazada brand store launch~

Not bad if you just want a phone for simple games, surfing, whatsapp, etc. If you could use the DBS/POSB discount today, it's not a bad price at all.

But many people will still be more interested in the 32GB model.

Yes, good for those who just require a basic phone to do some calling, surfing or texting, or for a spare phone.

How come they offer 1 year local manufacturer warranty ? mean its by xiomi.sg at central ? lacal 12months same as xiomi.sg purchase. like that its much more worth cheaper.brand new and got local warranty..not export set consider ? :)

Eh... why the need to censor?

Got good lobang just share lah! The seller is SmartCell.

Redmi Note 3 Pro Snapdragon 650 3GB/32GB, original price $218, use code HURRYSEP30 to bring it down to $188. Choose free delivery to save $3.

Silver: http://www.lazada.sg/xiaomi-redmi-note-3-pro-32gb-silver-free-tempered-glassclear-7914238.html
Gold: http://www.lazada.sg/xiaomi-redmi-note-3-pro-32gb-gold-free-tempered-glass-clear-7914232.html

(1) You don't need to unlock the bootloader to reflash it to the latest stable global ROM. There are guides out there. Try searching for "adb reboot edl". It's also known as the "reboot edl" method of flashing.

(2) SmartCell ships with the 7.3.7.0 global ROM. So you could use OTA update.

(3) Personally I never trust any of these sellers and would just reflash it myself to ensure a clean start. Some other sellers put in bloatware which cannot be removed by a "reset". It just keeps coming back.

It is also possible (though unlikely) that SmartCell put their own hidden bloatware or apps in the phone. Hence I never take any chances.

Its CORRECT. Thats REDMI NOTE 3

The snap dragon one is REDMI NOTE 3 PRO

Simple name that differentiate the 2 model - one is just NOTE3 another faster model with hybrid tray with SDCARD usable is REDMI NOTE3 PRO which is using the snapdragon CPU.

Even online ppl sell they say wts a REDMI Note 3, it mean the MTK model.

If they say its Redmi Note 3 Pro its understood to be the snapdragon version.

Further there are 16 GIGS version with 2 gigs ram and there are 32 GIGS model with 3 gigs of ram which both MTK and snapdragon also have the 2 diffeent capacity.

BUT "Pro" mean the snapdragon version which have faster CPU.

I hate to tell you this but it sounds like you "anyhow buy" without doing the proper research first.

Redbean is definitely NOT an authorized reseller; you definitely got an export set with no local warranty.

How much did you pay for it and for what model?

You almost certainly got the version with the MTK chipset. This version does not have Global ROM, so you are stuck with China ROM.

You should be getting the Redmi Note 3 "Pro" version which has the superior SnapDragon 650 chipset. Everyone should be buying this as it is faster and the SAME PRICE as the MTK chipset.

I thought we already learned from the Jover Chew incident in SLS...

Your best approach now is to try to go back and get a refund or exchange it for the "Pro" version.

By the way, for export sets, specifically the "Pro" 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM model, you should not be paying more than about $218 for it. That's the price in Lazada without any discounts, and it comes with FREE delivery. If you paid more than $220 for your phone, you got conned big time.

Buying it today (Friday) will knock 10% off the price using DBS / POSB credit cards and the appropriate discount code which can be found on the Lazada website.

MTK one also have global rom.

I owned one before I switch to snapdragon pro version.
Cause if its 16 gigs version of MTK and Cannot / and NO sdcard slot.
Very quickly u run out of space and u will have problem.

The snap dragon Note 3 pro can add up to 256 GIGS of external sdcard. and u can choose where you want your camera pictures to save to, backup can be save to the sdcard also.

Essentially Note 3 pro is faster, got sdcard option (but u need to sacrifice a sim slot. Cause its either one you choose to can use.)

However, in youtube there is a demo that teaches how to use both the hybrid slot at the same time that involves cutting/slicing the simcard to thinner width. a bit risky though. Cause any mistake in the cutting/slicing..... u might end up needing to get a replacement if it don work anymore - need to pay telco 39$+ for a sim card replacement :)

That what I am aware of. Just to share.

Cheers.

1. Local Xiaomi warranty set is Redmi Note 3 (without Pro) is a snapdragon chip.

2. Export set Redmi Note 3 Pro is a snapdragon chip.

3. Export set Redmi Note 3 (without Pro) is a MTK chip.

Only buy the first 2 models with a 3GB ram / 32GB Storage (3/32). Don't buy the 2/16 one.

Hope this clears up for potential buyers. :)

Can be a bit confusing for newbies to REDMI phone models.

In a very short time, Xiomi churned out quite a few models of late.
There are REDMI pro, REDMI3, 4, 5 and that New BIG :) 6.4 inches huge screen one.

Are you sure the MTK Note 3 has official MIUI Global ROM?

I don't seem to spot any of it on the MIUI forum..http://en.miui.com/download-301.html#440

Bought a cheap export Redmi Note 3 off Newstar to replace the Sony Z1 which my mum was using previously.

The phone is very easy to set-up and easy to use. My mum was visibly delighted and the battery life is really very good. Best of all, only $160, albeit with just 1 month warranty.

Slowly converting my family into Xiaomi camp.. I am loving the Mi Max having used it for coming to 5 months.. now considering getting a mi pad 2 for other media consumption

If you r using Samsung phones, the back n menu buttons are in the same position. I was a Samsung Note 2 user n thats the reason I chose Xiaomi bec the buttons are similar. Rest of the phones like HTC, Google, Sony, etc are all opposite.
