dont need, just reboot phone into edl mode.

important thing are, the drivers must be installed correctly.
and backup your data, as flashing fastboot rom will wipe all.

After updates, the 1st required reboot phone hang at locked screen too....

Had to reboot manually to recover. After that everything is okay...

Just flash it once and you are good to go all the way until official rom is released. One time pain only.

I was already on MIUI 8 beta. Just tried, the copying to microSD card is ok liao.

Battery life, must monitor.

That's great. Was actually hesitating to update via OTA due to the file size but this bug fix alone is worth it

6.8.4 is super nice.

The phone is getting better with each MIUI8 Beta updates.

Really can feel the improvement in term of speed and smoothness of the UI over 6.7.29.

The battery performance seems to be improved too in 6.8.4...

every week i just flash beta rom although i dun use miui8 features like; quick ball, dual app or 2nd space at all.
becomes a habit since miui7 beta appeared.
but at least force me to do regular backup as i always do clean install.
