I just discovered that all my pictures, be it taken from camera or WeChat, WhatsApp, etc.. all gone, don't know why? Internal and Micro SD card all gone!

Please advice how to recover.

TIA

Was this solved?? Sounds like a pretty serious problem...

Hi to all who's used this phone regularly. Doing some research on this phone for my mum, who primarily uses casual games and messaging apps.

Any lagginess to be concerned about? Any battery issues during regular use?
Connectivity issues (usb port doesn't detect pc, dropping internet connection, etc)?

Any reason I should spend another ~$100 to move up a level? Currently considering this and the Zenfone 4, but the loaded bloatware turns me off.

Thank you for your help! Or if I should be looking at other phones, do let me know too!

Nope I have no problems with the phone. This phone is suited for your mum for her usage pattern.

My screen suddenly can't turn on. Everything is working, finger scanner is working as I can sense the vibration. Screenshot with power and volume buttons is working as well as I can hear the click sound. Just that the screen is dead.

Anyone has similar issue?

Let me attempt to clear up the confusion.

Redmi Note 4 (Global Version, local set with one year official Xiaomi warranty) is always SD625. This set also has slightly more LTE bands which are targeted for the SG market.

Redmi Note 4X (China Version, export set) comes in both variants; MTK and SD625. Always get the SD625 version. Also, most local resellers reflash it with the Global ROM, which is preferred for most people.

Hardware-wise, the Redmi Note 4 Global Version, and the Redmi Note 4X SD625 version, are identical. Once the latter is flashed with the Global ROM, the software is identical too. Therefore, there is no difference between the Redmi Note 4 Global Version and Redmi Note 4X SD625 version with Global ROM, other than the fact that the former has one year official Xiaomi local warranty.

Separately, you then have the different RAM/ROM capacities. 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM is sufficient for most people. Some who have the 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM version expressed disappointment that it isn't a lot faster. That is actually to be expected, as Android OS is rather good at multi-tasking and task switching as long as you are not playing a lot of graphic and CPU intensive games, and 3GB RAM is more than enough for most people.

Redmi Note 4X (China Version, export set) ==> his is not true, Note 4x is also a global version. Hong Kong and Taiwan as far I know is on Note 4x too.

Early version of Redmi Note 4 (also has MTK processor version) is different hardware from later Note 4 as the merged into same hardware after 4x is announced.

If you press and hold the power button to restart the phone, is there scree able to be turned on? Mine was like that and had to be sent back to China Xiaomi for warranty (luckily problem appeared in the first week of receiving the phone).

Tried your method, manage to revive the screen. Will this problem appear again?

Thanx

For those of u who have the more recent sets, have u tried to root your phone?

It seems that there is a problem with the phones that have newer tianma LCD panels which can't seem to work with TWRP recovery.

For me, the same thing happens everytime the screen goes off. Once it goes off, I cannot get it back on apart from restarting the phone. That's why had to send for servicing.

Is note 4x camera much much better after all these hacks?

not worth the time IMO. the app crashes pretty often on my 3gb ram version.
Could be worth it if you have a 4gb version with one that's not a omnivision sensor

I read from xda that some folks buy the sony sensor to replace the omnivision sensor at USD$10.

I am toying the idea to get a cheap export set to play with the custom roms, but then the camera are rather impt to me.

If can match or close to s7 edge camera quality, can liao. :s13:
