Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

Just got mine from JTBC via Shopee. Ordered last Thurs, delivered yesterday. China version manufactured in April, was told that it is updated to global ROM. But the MIUI version is Global 9.5, 9.5.6.0 (OEIMIFA). Is this version legit? The same code I found online seems to be a Note 5 Pro ROM?

The device has some sort of SP already applied, doesn't look like what some of you guys have out of the box.

Was it sealed?

Was hoping they will bring in the 6GB ver for local shores..

But alas will have to content with 4GB.

Just get the export set with China rom loh.

Then flash it with global rom if you want.

China/HK sets got 6GB mah.

Was it sealed?

The appropriate qns would be is there any physical/cosmetic scratch or damage on the fone exterior.

Bcos this fone obviously has been opened up by the retailer beforehand to do the global rom flashing, pasting of sp etc.

Thing is, has the fone been mishandled eg. fell on the floor, dropped or knocked against something etc while in the process during the duration the fone was "out of the box".

That's why, since now there's option whereby the fone can come ready to use state in global rom-flashed and direct factory sealed I would rather spend a bit more to get this type.

I'm sibei particular in this aspect as I dun like my fone to be "unboxed" prematurely by another person before it reaches my hands.

There was a "Do not accept this if seal is broken" sticker but I removed it easily without breaking the sticker. It wasn't shrink wrapped either. I guess they need to open it to flash to the Note 5 Pro ROM since it's a China set. Checked the IMEI via the Xiaomi verification site and verified it's from China.

4/64 @ $239-5. There are -$5 codes with various bank cards.

Just check all exterior and the hardwares if no problem i think you can just keep it.

If not call jtbc or use shopee to retirn the phone. You can return the phone within 15 days if i m not wrong.

Recently bought Redmi Note 5 and within a week the phone was upgraded from Android N to Android O. The phone is smooth and quick with 4Gb RAM and more than enough memory to house my music collection that I transferred from my SD card. There are still lots of space and I don't have to be too concern about that. I'm also using CM Launcher Pro (paid) and to me it is one of the best and user-friendly launcher available.

I would surely recommend switching to XiaoMi if you have not done so. They do produce good phones at reasonable prices.

Chiu need to try harder than this to promote XM, bro.

But I must agree that XM over the past few yrs has been giving samseng/ifong these 2 leading big guns a good "competition" for consumers bucks.

got another 5D type i dun know ist gimmick but i order and will feedback.. cause there are hybrid tempered glass the edge is carbon fibre type which will bent in to the phone screen edges.

I asked taozi if this will have the halo effect and this is what they reply.

Think saw someone posted now the cheapest for the 4/64 Global version is $275.

Yeah, univercell now offers the cheapest for a Global Version at $275.

Not Chinese packaging but flashed with Global ROM, but it's English packaging with Global ROM.

This is also why when I get fone from telco (recon), I will "scrutinize" it sweeswee before leaving the place.

Bcos I know the fone has been opened up by the telcos beforehand for them to install their smlj telco bloatwares and paste their logo sticker.

Yeah but I think it's flashed with the Note 5 Pro ROM. Will have to flash it to the actual Global ROM just to make sure.

So their customer base are largely non-chinese. Therefore they will most likely bring in only the Global Version (non-chinese packaging) variant which already pre-installed global rom by XM factory direct.

No haven't yet, not in a rush so still can wait.

i have the 3/32 which I find as fast as my S7. Only $190 which is a steal.

Not promoting. Just my 2 cents thoughts. I've been using XiaoMi just over 2 years and Redmi Note 5 is just my 2nd XiaoMi phone. No regrets at all.
