lol your xiaomi dick sucking is getting a little obvious. the daylight quality is fine, but shutter lag is obvious and night time shots cannot even be compared. it gets destroyed by any flagship.

Hi !

Anyone compared this phone Camera to the older Samsung S6 ?
Somebody with the S6 considering this phone but concerned it might be a step back for the camera.

Thanks very much in advance.

Actually iPhone X is still better. It's one of the best for mid range phone, but definitely not close to iPhone X.

It's not using the same sensor as S7 Edge

I compare them side by side good light and low light. Same setting mean no HDR etc.. Note 5 focusing much faster.. The launch video is not lying.. Is true.. Iphone X image is more saturated color doesn't mean is better IQ.. Last time using mi mix I use my wife iphone X to take photo.. Now using max 3 or note 5 dun see the need.

Apologies. So is it better ? Or would it be a downgrade ? The person does not have high needs but prefer to stay at the same picture quality or better. Thanks again.

redmi note 5 ...day shot is decent... no difference...selfie cui.
s6 is better than note 5 in night shot. Blurring still exist in video recording for note 5.
Different people got different quality aspect, if possible, go telco and try out.

A lot of people got this misconception...
old- doesn't mean outdated/obsolete.
new- doesn't mean latest/better
expensive- doesn't mean the best

See your budget & needs and buy accordingly....

The camera on xiaomi phones are just "so-so" for me. Nothing good, nothing bad. Even my Mi 8 can't fight with my friend's S8. S8 still better. But Redmi Note 5 camera is definitely good for $300 :s13:

Are u talking about the iPhone X or S7? IPhone X > S7 > Redmi Note 5. Even more so when taking video. The stabilisation on iPhone is one of the best already. For daylight shots, the real difference is the dynamic range. iPhone has better dynamic range so whites don't get blown out as often. If you want a good camera, don't look at xiaomi. Get the Pixel, S9 or iPhone instead.

To me Redmi note 5 is considered low end phone. 100+ to 200+ low end, above $1K high end. It has very impressive camera for low end phone.

F1.9 and 1.4um sensor size.. Iphone X only 1.25um...dual pixel focusing does make focusing super quick also.. But I got to said iphone X and pixel own software enhancing is good.. Seldom need to edit using pc.. Maybe adjust abit highlight to make the color more pop. P20 pro I feel sometime really over sharpen.

I have no such issue as u mention as well. Maybe they are on beta rom?
