The usual method of flashing doesn't work. I believe some of forummers had already tried. This same issue is also mentioned in MIUI forum.

Unless you are bold enough to open but the phone and reflash it using the test point method mentioned here: http://en.miui.com/thread-2186162-1-1.html

I have also received a 6/64 note 5 from jtbc with OIIMIFA rom. It is not possible to reflash it, so requesting for refund is the only way out right?

If you need to use your phone to access company resources for work or your company runs BYOD program, you may run into issue where the corporate mobile device management system cannot be installed on phones that are on China ROM.

The company I am working at currently runs a BYOD and we use our personal phone for work. My colleagues in China frequently runs into issue where they couldn't enroll their phones to our corporate mobile device management system.

From what i heard from our IT, most mobile device management software requires Google frame work or android for work which is not present in China ROM and that's why the phones cannot be enrolled to our corporate mobile device management system.

Dun know why ppl still "scare" of china ROM...

My company will issue us a company phone if our personal phone doesn't work. I find it a hassle to bring 2 phones around so I'd prefer to have global ROM instead of China ROM on my personal phone.

Yes, you are correct, some phones that run global ROM (aka international version) such as Meizu have problem with mobile device management software.

Acc. to our IT, this is because the android OS on these phones are too customized for the mobile device management.

If it’s hard to flash then it could not be the shop that flash it to custom rom but possibly done during manufacturing?

At which point could someone else install custom rom or is the rom just an alternate version by xiaomi?

Acc. to the moderator in MIUI forum, OIIMIFA is fake/modified ROM.

Someone manage to install that without unlocking the phone. So it has to be done early I guess?

Is xiaomi aware of such breach where their phones are being installed with fake ROM, probably during assembly

So that explains the lower price from shops like jtbc/boom which are selling product that contain modified/fake software.

Are the OIIMIFA sets authentic Xiaomi phones or shan zai phones?
