1s will be priced the same as redmi1, if you see the pricing in china both are 799 rmb. The Redmi Note in Singapore should be the higher end version(2gb ram), priced 999 rmb in China so Note will be around 200 sgd.

The differences between Redmi 1 and Redmi 1s is the processor and internal memory. The Redmi1 4gb internal memory is really limited, some people complaint can't update app because no space left. Redmi 1s got 8gb internal and newer faster processor however due to faster processor 1s tend to heat up faster and have shorter battery life.
On the other hand, Redmi Note got a speedy octa-core processor and huge battery for long battery life but it is also much bigger and heavier(199g) device.There's also people who complaint the Note screen not sharp enough.

using it as spare phone for my spare number and for travel overseas.

I don't need sharp screen. weight battery life would be more of a priority

redmi 1s usage of snapdragon 400 also possibly means better GPS performance, compared to the redmi & redmi note, which both use MTK processors, which are known for slightly slower GPS performance

Dunno when the redmi note will be launch, so intend to get from third party dealer, what are the step to verify if it's genuine? as I intend to test on the spot and if fake I'll return it.

Saw several shops at expo audio house sale,
198 for 1s and 289 for note, but do not know warranty for how long. Can play around with them there as they have display sets. The note looked quite nice and photo taken looks good. Go and try before you decide,

1S and NOTE should be coming in soon. As long as buying for REDMI stop, they will have no choice but to launch 1S and NOTE.

If you noticed that sales quantity of REDMI have dropped to 4k instead of 5K. Just stop buying and you will see new models coming in. No demand, they will not dare to keep bring in.

Accompanied a friend earlier to get his Redmi Note (WCDMA) from SLS 3rd floor. Verified the authenticity by cross checking the IMEI and S/N with Xiaomi official website and specs through CPU-Z. Total damage $289 for phone + case + sp and 1 year shop warranty (can opt for 6 months shop warranty instead @ $269)

EDIT: I am having a strong suspicion that the Note my friend bought from SLS is a fake after he told me that the recovery was not MIUI recovery. Buyers beware!! Read MRC's Post #221 for more info
