hi Xiaofan, can i know if xiaomi AX3000 can be use with Singtel ONR ?
.

Any router can work with SingTel ONR.

You would need to set up your router in AP mode to avoid Double NAT as the SingTel ONR is the main router.

Take note Singtel ONR is either of the Nokia brand or Huawei brand. The ZTE brand one is configured as an ONT.

For SingTel ONT, you need to use the real local version with Singtel VLAN support.

No idea what kind of VPN you need for your Roborock model. I highly doubt PPTP (or L2TP) based VPN can work. In fact, you may have to buy VPN solutions like Transocks or Malus if you need to get IP address from mainlan China. And these types of VPN will not work on normal router, rather you have to use your Windows machine to bridge the wifi connection, which may be a bit complicated.

As for Wifi mesh solution, are you able to use Ethernet backhalu? If not, a pair of Xiaomi AX9000 (triband) is recommended. You should go with global version with local waranty in that case as a pair of Xiaomi AX9000 is not cheap.

If you are able to use Ethernet backhaul, then it depends whether you want local waranty or not. Xiaomi AX6000 does not have global version. I will recommend to get a pair of Xiaomi AX3000 (or Xiaomi AX3200) local version first. If the coverage is not that good in certain places, get more units. Or you can get Xiaomi AX9000 (main router) + Xiaomi AX3000 (mesh node).
update. bought a AX6000 off the shelf.
it could work with singtel huawei ONR.
i am able to use mi wifi apps to input the HMA PPTP. to trick the roborock that i am in china.
hence all the setup and timed schedule could work. (can leave it as it is for now)

split 2.5and 5ghz because once combine my older smart TV would be very very slow in loading.

the AX6000 is hiding in the cabinet beside the main door.
5m within the router (clear space) the speed test im getting is about 800mbps/200mbps
upper level with room door close. im getting about 80mbps /60mbps (2.4ghz)

will monitor if the other rooms is getting enough bandwidth.. ( will be able to use backhaul if i would require, maybe at the walkway of the 2nd level or masterroom(selfish))

Is it the case that only those routers with mediatek chip will have higher chance of getting openwrt support? As in the case with Xiaomi AX3200? Unfortunately the performance of this device is not as good as the others.

And it seemed based on quite a number of YT reviews from the chinese communities the superiority and most "value for money" of the various models are ranked in this manner:
Redmi AX6000 > Redmi AX5400 gaming edition > Xiaomi AX6000/AX3600

Interesting video showing the various tests done on Redmi AX6000 and associating comparison. It would be so much more exciting if this model can get openwrt official support too.

I agree with the following in terms of value.
Redmi AX6000 > Redmi AX5400 gaming edition > Xiaomi AX6000

But not for Xiaomi AX3600 which has the fastest CPU among them and I consider it as the best value for those who have bought it previously. IMHO.
XIaomi AX3600 (if you can still get it at reasonable price) > Redmi AX6000 > Redmi AX5400 gaming edition > Xiaomi AX6000

Right now only Xiaomi AX3200 (along with the China model Redmi AX6S) has the OpenWRT support (snaphot release). There are work in progress to get OpenWRT support for Xiaomi AX3600 but not any time soon. So I doubt we can have OpenWRT anytime soon for Redmi AX6000, Redmi AX5400 gaming edition or Xiaomi AX6000. But at least Xiaomi AX3600 and XIaomi 6000 and Xiaomi AX9000 have the SSH guide.

Since you went with the Xiaomi AX6000, you should get another AX6000 in the upper level. It will give you better performance and 5GHz coverage on the upper level.

Thanks for this insight. BTW on a separate side topic, previously you mentioned you're running pi-hole. Which Raspberry Pi did you get and setup for it and the associated cost? Is it something that can be setup within a day or two for total newbie just following some guides? Am I right to assume all of the routers listed above can be configured to setup DNS for it? Seemed like most people use asus routers to pair with it.

Yes as per the reviews.
Redmi AX6000 > Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition > Xiaomi AX6000 > Redmi AX5400.

The main advantage of Xiaomi AX6000 is the possibility to gain SSH access as of now.

Just realized there is a fineprint on openwrt support. Taking a quote from the openwrt wiki (https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/ax3200)

"Important: There are two versions of this device: Xiaomi AX3200 (model RB01, international version) and Redmi AX6S (model RB03, Chinese version). Both versions are exactly the same hardware, and the only difference is the version of the stock firmware (which is region locked).

The initial installation of OpenWrt on these devices requires telnet access. Some early production units were shipped with telnet enabled from factory, but later devices started shipping with telnet disabled, thus making impossible to install OpenWrt.

However, for the Chinese version Redmi AX6S (model RB03), even if it comes with telnet disabled, it is possible to enable telnet access by installing a beta version of the stock firmware (miwifi_rb03_firmware_stable_1.2.7_closedbeta.bin, more details below). This stock firmware does enable telnet on the Redmi AX6S (model RB03) and therefore it makes OpenWrt installation possible.

At the present moment (April 2022) there is no known way to enable telnet on the Xiaomi AX3200 (model RB01, international version). So if you have this device, you can check if it came from factory with telnet enabled. If so you can install OpenWrt, otherwise it is not possible to install OpenWrt on the Xiaomi AX3200 (model RB01)."

I finally managed to check with a seller who confirmed that the set with singapore local warranty is RB01. Giving this situation, might as well go with AX6S. Can get it around $63 after staking vouchers, etc buying from the local platforms. Seems like a good price?

how much are you getting it from taobao? last week I saw JD after staking some vouchers including shipping fees work out to around rmb571 (~$118).

interestingly, getting it from overseas sellers who sell on local platforms are slightly cheaper by a few bucks.

Redmi AX6000 should work with China version of Xiaomi AX3600 for mesh. It may not work with International version of Xiaomi AX3600 (with original international version Firmware) for mesh.

Not so sure about international version of Xiaomi AX3600 with China version FW.

Based on the review, price/performance ratio rank is roughly like the followed.
1) Redmi AX6000 (faster CPU than the rest, MTK quad core 2.0GHz CPU, but no 2.5G LAN port) >
2) Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition (best looking, with 2.5G LAN port) >
3) Xiaomi AX6000 (2.5G LAN has some limitation)>
4) Redmi AX5400 (no 2.5G LAN)

Xiaomi AX6000 is pretty good in terms of the wireless performance, but it has a severe limitation with the 2.5G LAN port which has a 1G link with the other LAN ports. And IMHO it is pretty ugly (same for Xiaomi AX3600).

Personally I think the best is Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition. It is roughly the same price as the Xiaomi AX6000.

erm they also recommend redmi for performance
redmi is using metal plate , while xiaomi uses heatsink for passive cooling. this maybe a concern.
i like redmi compact design tho.

what about the wifi ?

Ax5400 ge uses same chipset as mi ax6000 so performance still good but not the current best .
I got the Redmi ax6000 as I dun need NAS ports nor 2.5 lan port(not useful to me and most ppl tbh) .
I think most NAS users wun use Xiaomi routers as their software still pretty sucky compared to competition.
Performance wise slightly better than my old ax6 also range/signal is much better can get full bar in my kitchen toilet now.

I think just get whatever you like since all are good cheap routers but I opt more for performance and latest chipset.

Dun bother with game accelerators plugin support they only functional in mainland china plus to need subscribe one .

Hello all, can advise if the range of wifi for AX3600/6000/9000 is good?

I used to have the ASUS ROG GT-AX11000 (free when u sign up for MR's gaming plan).
Router is placed in my living room which is kinda in the centre of my house.
Issue is that MBR, especially the corner of MBR, got almost 0 wifi reception.

Blue is where i placed the router, the "dead spots" are the red circles.
3qU8g6a.png

So i switched to Ubiquiti's UDM and a NanoHD. I think probably is i dunno how to set or what, just feel like i cant get the best performance of our the Unifi interface. Also, the wifi performance, in my own opinion, is normal and both speed and performance is normal, if not bad.

Also, abit tired of Mesh system liao because i think our flats all so small, no matter how you mesh, sure will have alot of overlapping signals from the main router and the rest of the mesh's AP. I think this result in the devices not able to optimally connect to the correct AP which also may result in poor wifi and roaming.

As such, thinking of switching to just a 1 main router which hopefully have good wifi range that can cover my whole house.

If not, backup plan is to just get 2 xiaomi routers and create another mesh system via wired backhaul (bobian if really 1 router cannot) and place it as such, any comments?

What you guys think?
Thanks!
