You may have to go with this.

Singtel ONT -- XIaomi AX3000 local set (with Singtel VLAN profile) -- Singtel TV Box (VLAN port for Singtel TV)
Singtel ONT -- Xiaomi AX3000 local set (with SIngtel VLAN profile) -- TL-SG1008P -- Airties main unit and goCoax main unit

The following may most likely not work.
Singtel ONT -- XIaomi AX3000 local set (with Singtel VLAN profile) -- TL-SG1008P -- Singtel TV Box

Hi @xiaofan

Thanks for the reply.

I did a search in the forum. Still somewhat confuse. Appreciate if you can advise.

1) How to setup Singtel VLAN profile in the Xiaomi AX3000 local set?

2) Singtel TV Box (VLAN port for Singtel TV).
You mean just connect the ethernet cable from the Xiaomi router to the Singtel TV box?

Thanks again

Supposedly there will be a VLAN profile for Singtel if it is a local set. Or you may have to manually set the VLAN if that is not available.

Then there will be a LAN port which is for Singtel TV, connect that port to the Singtel TV box.

Hopefully the owner of local set of XIaomi AX3000 will be able to confirm. I do not own this XIaomi router.

Over the yers I have setup Linksys WRT1900AC, Linksys EA7500 v2, Huawei AX3 Quad Core local set and Asus RT-AX82U with Singtel ONT. They all have built-in Singtel profile for Singtel ONT users so that you can get Singtel Fibre Internet and Singtel TV working.

If you are worried, I think it will be better to buy known working routers like Asus RT-AX56U/58U/82U.

I intend to get ax9000 in order to set up tri band wireless backhaul for three floor.
Can I get ax6000 (which is dual band) to set up as the mesh node?
Or is it better/necessary to get a pair of ax9000?

For wireless backhaul, it is better to get Xiaomi AX9000 triband as the mesh nodes as well.

Hi everyone, I'm considering to get the ax5400 non-gaming edition. Is there anyone that is using it? Any thoughts about this model? Wondering why it doesn't seem popular in general as it look like it's good for price/spec.

Some of my concerns if anyone can comment:
1. Is there basic english UI despite being a china only model?
2. Seem like it would probably never get openwrt support anytime soon. Might have to go with ax3200/ax6s if I want this.
3. Any other reason to avoid this model in particular? (Don't think I need 2.5G port for now).

It is always better to buy local version if you need better compatibility and support (including warranty). For example, China version will not support Singtel VLAN out of the box (for Singtel ONT users).

Wireless performance will not be as good as the gaming edition based on the review.

anyone using Xiaomi AX9000 router? I'm thinking to change my current router Asus Ac86U to wifi6 router. Just re-contracted with M1 and got AX55. I do not intend to use AX55 as it's a very basic router.

Is there ax9000 local set or do we all get imported set from china? If its china set, is it easy to set up as compared to local set using mi home app?

How is the coverage for Ax9000?

Are you using any of the more advanced feature of the Asus RT-AC86U? It is still very good as a router with a relatively powerful CPU (the CPU is still much better than the CPU used in Asus RT-AX55/56U/58U/82U and Zenwfi XT8). You can actually keep using it and then use the RT-AX55 as a mesh node to see how Wifi 6 improves speed for your Wifi 6 client.

As for the Xiaomi AX9000, local set has the SRP of S$399 and usually the price is above S$300. I believe most of the store will be out of stock for the local set. China set has the SRP of RMB1299 (around S$260) but now the offer price is at RMB999 (around S$200). As long as you are not using Singtel ONT, there should be no issue to use the China set in terms of compatibility. So in the end it depends on your risk profile.

Are you intending to gain SSH access and explore the more advance feature of the Xiaomi AX9000? If not the strong CPU power is basically useless. In this case, if you want to use single router, Xiaomi AX6000 will be good enough and may have a slightly better 5GHz wireless coverage than the triband Xiaomi AX9000. But if you intend to buy a pair for mesh using wireless backhaul, then Xiaomi AX9000 will be much better.

Redmi AX6000 and Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition are also good choices for single router configuration.

Chinese domestic market wifi router recommendation from acwifi. TP-Link and Xiaomi are the two main brands. However, TP-Link domestic models are usually not available here in Singapore.
https://www.acwifi.net/22949.html
RMB 200-299: Redmi AX6S (AX3000) at RMB259
RMB 400-499: Redmi AX6000 at RMB479
RMB 600-999: Xiaomi AX9000 at RMB999

thank you. The reason I wanted to change out my AC86U is that I keep having issues with 2.4ghz. The 2.4ghz, will drop off or went missing after a week without a reboot. My smart IOT devices which are always connected to 2.4ghz always get disconnected and it will only work when I reboot the router.

On the other hand, the 2,4ghz can't seem to go all the way to the far end of the kitchen and toilet. I'm staying in an old HDB where the kitchen toilet is at the deep end of the kitchen away. The kitchen is the furthest from the living room where my modem/router is. In my 3 rooms, the big living room wifi coverage is good. The kitchen area wifi generally is okay.

Also, I would like to upgrade to a wifi-6 enabled router. I need at least 3 LAN ports, I have one connected to my TV in my living room, and 1 LAN port connected to my desktop PC in my room, while another LAN port is connected to one of my karaoke sets.

What are your recommendations for my set-up I currently have an AC86U and a new AX55. Should I use AX55 as the main router and AC86U as the mesh node?

If I use AX55 as the main and AC86U as mesh, what will my wifi6 client connect to? Will it connect to wifi6 (AX55) or AC86U? Let's say I'm standing in the living room where wifi signals are strong.

Or I should do it the other way around to set AX55 as mesh? Also what if I disable wifi on my main router (AC86U) and only enable wifi on AX55 (as mesh)? Say I put my AX55 strategically in the middle of my house near the kitchen, where signals should be able to go into all the rooms and kitchen.

I was thinking that AX9000 by Xiaomi is overkill for my house. I think it's better to use mesh node(s). The other router I am thinking of is the Xiaomi AX3000. It has a pair or one for different-sized homes. Is the CPU power of AC86U much better than Xiaomi AX3000 and AX9000?

Thank you 🤲

Since you did not answer my questions about FW feature of the Asus, it seems to me you do not need high CPU power and all the routers you mentioned have good enough CPU power.

In terms of CPU power, Xiaomi AX9000 >> RT-AC86U >> Xiaomi AX3000. But Xiaomi stock FW is quite plain compared to Asus.

I am using RT-AX82U as my main router and the CPU power is probably similar to Xiaomi AX3000. And it is good enough for me. The only time I feel the CPU is slow is when using VPN server (Asus Instant Guard).

So it seems to me you will be good with a pair of Xiaomi AX3000. You can keep the RT-AC86U as the main router but disable wireless. Then you can keep the good FW features of the RT-AC86U and yet enjoy the improvement in wireless coverage and performance.

But before buying that you may want to give the RT-AX55 a try. You can play with the placement and different configuration. Or you can sell it straight away for about S$90 (dropped recently from about S$110).

You may want to post the floor plan and indicate the location of the router placement and LAN ports.

If you want to go with better Asus, then you should consider RT-AX82U or GT-AX6000 and use it as the main router. Then you can use the RT-AC86U or RT-AX55 as mesh node. GT-AX6000 (dumped by M1 users in Carousell) is the best value buy among high end Asus routers. If you are with M1, just buy it from M1 at a superb price.

Thanks, I currently do not have my floor plan with me. But how does CPU power of the router affect usage? Is it when we have multiple devices connected via (wifi/LAN), then CPU computation power is important?

I have never tried Xiaomi routers, I've been using Asus Routers all along from AC87U to AC3200 to now AC86U. I do not have or need VPN on the router. Currently, I have Ai Protection on my router. I do not game hence do not really need a gaming router.

I'm also looking for other ways and configurations too, and 11.11 is coming, probably can get a new router. I've been always on AC8xx range of routers, so your considerations of AX82U should be good too.

However, if I get Xiaomi AX3000, there won't be enough LAN ports, may I know if I am able to use Network switches to expand my LAN ports from AX3000?

If you are willing to go for RT-AX82U, just go ahead and no need to consider Xiaomi already. There were good promotions from Courts back in 2021 to get it around S$240. But no more such offer now.

AIprotection itself is a good feature to use already if you find it useful. Personally I am using Pi-hole and disable AIprotection.

As for Xiaomi AX3000 (One WAN pluse three LAN ports), yes you can use Network switch to expand the LAN ports.

Thanks. I'll try have a look at the AX82U. I saw challenger selling one with Gundam edition, looks quite cool. Currently mostly are selling at $320. Then I think I'll possibly use my AX55 as mesh router.

Thank you 🤟

Is it a bad idea to purchase a redmi ax5400 now? It is China model thus will have technical difficulties in sg?

It is okay as long as you are not using Singtel ONT (Singtel VLAN required) and your requirement is relatively low.

On the other hand, Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition or Redmi AX6000 is a better buy if you are willing to pay a bit more.

Thank you Bro.
I'm using 500 mbps plan. No point to upgrade to a high end router right?

Currently still using Asus 1200g
