The more well known term is wicking effect, where water is absorbed through a media like cloth or sponge aka wicking cloth. Dripping mean no media and water drips onto the cloth. Roborock water tank uses these.

Next is water pump system where water is dispensed through a water pump or water spray. E.g Ecovac, w400, legee, Hizero and some Braava M. This is more accurate, less prone to leaks but water pump can get blocked or damaged.

The last one is using air pump to push water out of the tank holes. Less accurate and may be prone to leaking if the container seal is broken. Hydra and Viomi v2 uses that.

What is the meaning of gravity dripping?

The Hydra uses its own locally supported app.
Don't need xiaomi app, I like it.. faster and alot of features! Can save multiple maps too!

Saw the video review on it, looks like many features.
Can share more photos of the APP interface? cannot see from the video. How is it doing so far?
Not using Mi home APP, china or sg server.
What app is it using?

It maps my home well, just like the roborocks/viomi and app has lots of features.
i also use the room selection mode every night so as not to disturb my infant sleeping.
Works without fail.

App interface is fast and better than Viomi. lots of features that i tested are working and have some bugs which i have feedback to them for fixing.

The Hydra S7 is available now, but there will be a launch promo price tomorrow which is very good. keep an eye out for it
it makes it a way better deal than the Viomi!

I can safely say that i will sell my Viomi and keep the S7, since the S7 performs better than the Viomi in all my testing.
Anyone interested in buying my Viomi V2 at $300 with warranty left, please PM me! hahaha..

Battery life is slight better than viomi, though it's supposed to be better.
Have feedback to them to see if they can improve it too.

Tested the mopping function a few days ago.
The tank does not drip as much as the old tank when out of the vac.
Results of full water tank at medium setting wiping around 70m2.
still a tiny bit of water left in the tank.
Also, i don't see any water pooling in the vac after 2 tests. YMMV:

my next test on the Hydra will be the 2-in-1 tank and google/alexa integration.
New born is taking up alot of my free time now.

erm, cleaning time still acceptable.
eh, ignore the suction power, 5800mAh battery is under-perform...
3200mAh viomi full suction... 1 min consume 1%
5200mAh s5..... 36mins consume 20~25%

The app is designed by? edit: the app designed by minihelpers, pretty smooth & responsive.
what are the bugs?
live realtime map update?
will it skip room and jump everywhere? let said after room 2, does it will skip room 7 and jump to room 4?
In room 2 , does it bump a lot on obstacles?
Any issue setting up 5.0ghz?
does the schedules working properly?
if pause and carry to another room, will it re-location itself?
is the filter size same as viomi?
any docking issue?

well, water pooling start appear after sometimes....

What is the meaning of gravity dripping?

Without using any power/mechanism to control the waterflow rate, it rely on the momentum to drip out the water. for my reference, i just call gravity dripping.

If it’s not too troublesome, can you post a close up of the full water tank base. I am interested in the full water tank the robot. Because I want buy a good upgraded replacement tank if the issue is resolved. Though I have overcome my existing tank flaw, it’s no longer original :)

I posted the resolution long time ago, you did not fix the issue?
Refer to my second posting on the actual cause and surgery on the tank. It will fix the issue to plug the air hole at bottom and channel the air hole to the side.

I checked all the way to July but still did not manage to find your suggested solution. Can you kindly direct me to the exact page? Thanks!

Bringing this up again for those user who faced the Viomi full water tank pump choked but missed my posting. If user left the air pump drenched for too long, the interior will rush beyond repair.

Before going into detail, let get to the fundamental because how you drill is subjective. The issue is because the pure water tank has a design flaw that the air pump hole is at the base resulting in water sucking into the air pump via that tiny hole. So the trick is to plug that bottom hole and drill another tiny hole on the side. Note; because my smallest drill bit is still consider big, I later paste two layer of scotch tape at the inside and prick with a pin hole. The tiny hole is to limit the water discharged when stationary.
Update: there is possibly another way without the surgery however it may be harder as I could not find the best way to cut a thin hard foam. Basically cut a hard foam and punch a hole. Then stick the foam around each of the dust compartment hole. This makes the water drip into the hole and not spill out. If you cannot cut the foam, then proceed to the surgery below.

If you have 3 volt battery, you can test the pump (+ is closer to pump), else just hope the pump still working. Ignore the metallic valve as I tot it was due to backflow but was wrong. Always use a flat screw driver to losses the rubber hose to dry, do no pull.

Correction and update. I finally nailed the root cause of the flooding pump compartment. My previous assessment was half wrong and the good news is, you do not need a valve.
The water went into the pump compartment via the air hole at the base of the tank next to the drip hole with two arrows. When the robot bumps on the floor on high water drip mode, water spilled into the robot’s trash holder tank area and the pump sucks the water from the air hole into the pump compartment.
The pump was tested not able suck in water from front but the water in the rubber tube was actually water from the flooded compartment.
Remediation fixes will need to open the base plate, use tape or blu tack to seal the air hole from inside the cover. Then drill a small tiny hole from side of the tank with base plate in just below the water reservoir (see pic). This prevent the water spills to reach the hole (drill high but don’t puncture the reservoir). Then put back the rubber seal properly.

This is a more recent idea when I fixed the combo tank seeping water into the dust tank when vacuum is medium. The picture here is the full water tank, combo tank only have two funnel.
User can always use the dryer mop cloth to blotch out any small residual due to dripping when putting tank. Hope it helps. Else have to use the drill method which is a confirm fix.

Hi
Anyone know if xiaomi 1s can work in Singapore? Thinking of getting one from taobao during 11.11. Understand that there is no gloal version. I am ok with the local version as long as it can work. Chinese interface js alright for me.

so will this also happen to Hydra S7 which have similar tank design and water flow control function?

I am still using 1S but must add from region mainland Chinese. Interface is English switchable. The only downside is the map will load much slower from this region, else it work as normal.
Remember to update its firmware to latest.

Have to wait for the S7 reviewer final experiences and feedback. So far reviewer mentioned no water ponding. Without the picture of the tank base, I cannot conclude it is the same design.

To clarify, I bring my remediation fixes post again is because one member had missed my previous posting and had not remediate the issue and thus could not use the mop. I encountered this same issue with xiaomi 2-in-1 as well.

so will this also happen to Hydra S7 which have similar tank design and water flow control function?

Oh good to hear that because I previously bought a webcam and it couldn't be used as the mi home app doesn't recognise even when I used mainland location.
Think taobao 11.11 has some good deals and can get 1s robot at around 300plus SGD. Seems a good deal.

It would be good if you can confirm working in due time. At least I know there are more global users too as better assurance besides myself.
