Can help me connect xiaomi mini router to fiber optic singtel modem?

There are Singtel Internet Plans which optic fibre are tied to the mac address to the 2wire router which they provide, which means you can't use any other routers from the shelf to replace it. The only solution is to switch ISP, starhub or singtel fibre unlimited plans.

you can clone the mac addresses, and it works right away.

Hi,

Yup, the mini can be used as a repreater. But it will only repeat signals at 2.4Ghz despite it being marketed as "dual-band". Many have tried to get the mini to repeat at 5Ghz (including flashing the firmware) but to no avail. It's pretty ok for a 2.4Ghz repeater though.

I'm wondering if it's possible to use the mini as a wifi dongle for my computer ...

Cheers

Do you need to flash it to use it as a 2.4GHz router? If no, can roughly point me to where the settings are? TIA.

Interesting. I've been using the black 'cylindrical' Mi Router with 1Tb for almost 1yr. Been good so far in my 5rm HDB.

Keen on this new one. Cept it's design kinda bit odd and 1 step back.
maybe they want to add external antenna so they change their router design, but yeah its design looks a little odd. :)

I am currently owning a xiaomi 1TB version router and would like to ask a few questions.

Current set-up:
5room flat
-ASUS RT-N56U + White Huawei ONT at utility box
- All rooms connected by Cat 6 cables
- Additional Xiaomi router in another room middle of the house to increase signal (LAN->Xiaomi Router)
- So now I have 2 Modems with 2 different SSID within the house. Device will switch to whichever that has stronger signal when I walk around the house

My concern is that I am using a wireless printer (Now in the store room). Do I need to configure the Xiaomi router to AP mode so that my printer does not detect 2 different SSIDs and be “confused” with which one to connect? Appreciate if anyone could help

Your printer will detect many more SSIDs, not limited 2 in your house. It won't be confused.

You just decide which one you want the printer to connect to and set it on the printer, the printer will ignore the rest.

the new Xiaomi router 1T model (same price 699RMB) compared with the old model:
- Dual antenna vs internal antenna
- Broadcom 4709C dual-core 1.4GHz processor vs. 1GH
- 512MB of flash storage vs. 16MB
- Surveillance Harddisk vs. standard notebook hdd

Wireless

Ethernet

miwifiethernet.jpg

Initially wanted to install openwrt. Flashed the developer firmware and ssh but couldn't flash the openwrt firmware in ssh. It spits out couldn't open the device for writing something like that although as root

So in the end i set up the miwifi mini as a repeater.
