1. set the ip no of mi to an unused number (out of singtel router's dhcp range)
2. disable dhcp on mi
3. mi on normal mode
4. plug in the ethernet cable from router to mi's lan1.
5. connect mio using ethernet cable, connect to mi's lan2.

guys.. need help on xiaomi routers and yi camera.

this is what i have.

Starhub ONT --> Xiaomi New Mi Router(1tb) in study room --> wired to Mini router in living room --> Yi camera in living room

The Mi router is set as main, followed by Mini router as bridge mode.

The yi camera in the living room cannot connect to the mini router.
But if i move it to the study room, it can connect to the Mi router.

my intention is for the yi camera, to connect to the mini, and to stream data to the Mi router for storage...

anyone have any ideas please?

don't use bridge mode.

1. set the ip no of mini to an unused number (out of Mi router's dhcp range)
2. disable dhcp on mini
3. mini on normal mode
4. connect mini to mi router by lan, normal lan port to normal lan port, don't use wan port.
5. You can access the hdd via mini's ip no. You can either connect to mini's wifi or mi router's wifi.

somehow cant work.
I get the meaning what you trying to ask me to do.
simply extend the 2nd router, mini, to the same network by using the same Lan to Lan.

However, i can surf net using the mini in living room. i simply cannot connect the Yi camera to router.
if i move the camera to study room and connect to the New Router... it works.

move it out again, fail...

giving up here...

don't use bridge mode.

1. set the ip no of mini to an unused number (out of Mi router's dhcp range)
2. disable dhcp on mini
this is the DHCP server as a service right? not the WAN way of getting ip.

3. mini on normal mode
4. connect mini to mi router by lan, normal lan port to normal lan port, don't use wan port.
5. You can access the hdd via mini's ip no. You can either connect to mini's wifi or mi router's wifi.

Don't give up.
Try not to set static ip, use automatic.
Do not use Wan port but any of the two Lan.
If OK, confirm back.

I currently on Viewqwest 1Gbps plan and I thinking of getting the Xiaomi router but the specs show that is max speed is 867Mbps. This means that it not able to get the max speed of 1Gbps?

Most of the 1Gbps plan from our ISP are for show only. Even you have 1Gbps network in your house, what are the applications you are using need 1Gbps, and how many servers can give you 1Gbps?

For most of us, we connect to overseas servers, if we can achieve 50Mbps, we are very lucky.

I connected the router yesterday and its working. The issue now is the speed is very slow despite me being close to it. Are there any settings i can do to improve this?

How the speed test was conducted?

I was using my desktop with a wireless AC adaptor connected. The download speed was max 2MB/s.

I then proceeded to use wired for my laptop to do the speedtest, i got around 50Mbps on 2.4Ghz.

Lastly, I used my Note 4 to do a speedtest on the 5Ghz band, it is around 6MB/s download speed with 10MB/s upload.

I'm on 1Gbps starhub plan.

it is better to use speedtest from ookla to measure the quality of your network. may be you should do another test. you also have to take note of the locations of the nodes -how far is your desktop, notes etc, and whether there is wall in between.
There is an apps for your note4 and for desktop /notebook, use browser witht the ookla site.

For wireless, you may have to check your wifi freq by using running wifi analyser on your note4, make sure that your neighbours are not using the same freq as you.

I'm using speed test from ookla for my tests. I will analyse the wifi channels tomorrow and post here if I have any findings. Thanks!

Hi bros,

I am currently on VQ 600mb plan. Connected to my desktop from the xiaomi router 2 1tb setup like this -

Using cat 6:
zhone ont gb port > xiaomi router wan port

cat 5e:
xiaomi router gb port > desktop gb port.

If I'm directly using the zhone router, I'm getting the correct speed for both down/up (500+mbps/500+mbps)

If I use the router gb port to my desktop, I'm getting a capped 100mbps for upload.

Any bros can figure why this is so?

Note that I tested all on speedtest.net local servers & confirmed that QOS is turned off for the xiaomi router.
